If I were you, I would retain the stocks. But booking some profit especially with X times growth is also advised by many people.

I think the market will rally further if Nifty can break the ~16000 resistance.

Quoting my old post. Seems facts and situations changed.

Is anyone tracking Oil PSUs now? IOC, HPCL trading at almost their book values. Dividend yield at 8-10%. PE ratio at around 4. Their quarterly sales are even more than their market cap. 10% OPM. All these figures seem too good.

However the fly in the ointment is Debt to equity at around 1.

Are these value buy or some value trap?

I own the entire lot

Because of the high dividend yield at market price, I have no problems averaging down either.

This is a bit misleading. Let's take IOC for example. FY21 interest payout was just Rs. 3,000 cr. This is negligible when compared to net profit (Rs. 22,000 cr), operating profit (Rs. 40,000 cr) or even other income (Rs. 4,500 cr).

Any stock that pays FD-beating dividend yield can never be termed a 'value trap'. The cost of holding the stock is 'net positive' (you are getting paid to hold the stock). If we brand this a value trap, then we should call PPF, debt MF, FD investments as value traps too.

Value traps are low price to book or price to earnings stocks that do not pay much dividends (Eg: PSU banks)

Thanks, if you say so means me and many others here will move in to buy.

One last query before moving in. Is there any possibility of their books being cooked? Like some PSU banks? PSU banks are a hazard even when we have RBI as regulator and keeps a hawk eye on them.

High dividend payout ratio is a sign that balance sheet is proper. Dividends paid to shareholders is real money. If Rs. 20,000 cr profit is not real, they won't be able to pay Rs. 10,000 cr as dividends to shareholders.

Best to avoid PSU banks and PSU financials, since management can come under political pressure to give out loans.

Looking to start buying IPO's/Direct MFs. Saw Motilal offering zero AMC for lifetime account. What's the catch? Angel broking i currently have also has a 240 Rs annual charge but motilal seems quite cheap. Worth taking it as i wont be day trading as such ?

Zerodha is a no brokerage option. The statistics and graphs are good tools for decision making. May be someone who is using it for a longer time can help point the benefits and disadvantages.

Help: Mandate Approved however showing processing on Gpay

I applied for the 4 IPOs yesterday with one lot of each. The application got processed and received emails from both Zerodha & NSE confirming the application. However, the mandate I approved on Gpay is still showing as 'processing'. The money is not been withdrawn or shown as blocked in the bank account. Also, in the UPI ID statement I can see the amount been blocked. Has anyone faced this issue and can help out?

I sincerely hope, this would not lead to my applications been rejected. All 4 IPOs have maximum subscribers yet rejection would be disappointing over not been allocated.

Zerodha does have a 300 Rs AMC.
I was wondering if there are any without any AMC.

I don't have the answer but a query instead. Why didn't you use ASBA option? Is there any advantage of using UPI over ASBA?

Re: Do you play the stock market

Sanity these days...

- VIX has no relation to Volatility anymore
- FIIs/DIIs no more influence market dynamics
- Quality has no meaning when it comes to lining up for IPOs
- Results no more correlate with price movement
- A simple blab can wipe out 25% overnight
- From Crypto to Gold, nothing is spared from Volatility

For Direct MF, I recommend create an account in MF Utility and use this platform. This is free and covers almost all the fund houses.

You can try Tradeplusonline life time account which has 1 time payment for 10 years or so. May be this is the cheapest AMC among discount brokerages. They also have zero brokerage delivery plan.

Not able to access using Stan C Net Banking. You have any document to refer or a screenshot?

Anyone got allotments for last 4 IPOs?

Sorry, no idea about Stan C, but with SBI, SBICap and ICICIDirect that I use, it is pretty easy to select between ASBA and UPI.

Re: Do you play the stock market

I'm fairly new to stock trading in the Indian market and was considering investing in some auto stocks.

I was considering Eicher and Hero at the current prices. Any advice on these and other auto (or non-auto) stocks?
