Must watch alert - Superfast. Fast and Furious spoof. Characters playing Vin Diesel and The Rock are hilarious. The dialogues in this film will make you laugh till you ache at the sides.

Death at a Funeral!
Watched it last night. Hilarious movie; I am still smiling while writing this! There's something about British humor. Amazing performances by the actors.

My rating 4.5/5

For all dog lovers a must watch "My dog Skip".
It's a story of a shy boy who grows up in 1940s Mississippi with the help of his beloved dog, Skip.

Re: The English Movies Thread (No Spoilers Please)

Avengers - Age of Ultron Rating: 4/5

All those who liked the first Avengers, are going to like the second one even more. I had a blast throughout the movie. There is so much action in the movie, that you may not watch another action movie for the next few weeks or so. I think people might not even watch 'the breaking new'.

In the first Avengers, considerable time was spent in gathering all the superheroes under the S.H.I.E.L.D. But second one starts with all Avengers in full action to bring back the scepter from Loki's thief. They do bring back the scepter, but what happens next causes complete havoc. Every character has his/her own moment of glory throughout the movie. Hawkeye has slightly more focus this time.

The two new additions, the brother-sister pair are interesting, especially the brother. The scenes in which he zooms past from one point to another are damn good and well made. I feel that this Avengers has more substance than the first one. The dream sequences of each character, Thor’s effort to find out the reason for his dream, Black Widow’s dream and her upbringing, are all good scenes with more emotions than you would expect (in the right sense) in an movie about ensemble of superheroes.

Yes, people will argue that 70% scenes are just CGI and all that. But even those CGI need a perfection and Avengers-2 is near to that. One of my favourite scene was when Hawkeye drops Black Widow with her bike and the way she rides through the traffic to get to the cradle. Somehow, it had an uncanny resemblance to the bike sequence from Matrix-2, in which Trinity rides with the keymaker.

The only flaw in an otherwise great entertainer is the the girl with mind-controlling power. That is the weakest link in the movie.

Overall, totally worth the money. Enjoy !

Re: The English Movies Thread (No Spoilers Please)

Stupidest question known to mankind but pls humor me:
Can I take my 4 year old son to Avengers 2? He's quite liked the trailer once he saw it, and he loves ultimate spider man. He's okay with violence but if there are intimate / kissing scenes (as Spiderman had) then we may need to know/plan in advance.

Please advise.

There is one small kissing scene at the end of the movie. Nothing too intense. I think you can take your son.

To quote a T-BHP legend, the film has no 'hanky-panky'.

There are a couple of flirting/suggestive scenes between Ruffalo & Johansson, but nothing actually happens. The violence too is hardly ever gory, so OK to let a willing kid watch it I guess.

No worries in taking your son and there is hardly anything objectionable! Language is totally clean and the movie is made with young kids in mind!

Re: The English Movies Thread (No Spoilers Please)

4-yr-olds aren't allowed to see people kiss? Or is it only a problem if they are super-heroes?

Re: The English Movies Thread (No Spoilers Please)

Finally saw Kingsman : The Secret Service.

Well, I had high hopes from this movie. When I came to know that Sammy Jackson is in the cast, I knew it would be humorous.

Sadly, I got massively facepalmed.

The directing gets weird at times. Acting by Colin Firth and Mark Strong are the face-savers here. Samuel Jackson does try to do some justice to his role, but does appear shaky at times. One particular scene, the one filmed in a church, makes this film live up to it's hype. Did give me a sense that Tarantino was hired just to shoot that sequence, it's that awesome.

The story isn't very mature. At times, it becomes a movie that deserves a Rated R rating. At times, it becomes a movie that should be screened on Cartoon Network. No audible involvement of music here.

Watchable. Just once.

Rating : 2.5/5

Re: The English Movies Thread (No Spoilers Please)

Finally saw the Imitation Game - 4/5

What a movie and superb screenplay. Even though the plot is non-linear and skips between different timelines, the movie never gets confusing or loses pace - considering that the subject material is rather bland.

Of course - a very very special mention to Benedict Cumberbatch, totally awesome performance , everyone fades in front of his performance and that is saying something, because the movie is very well cast, made and performed.

Saw Jupiter Ascending. Good watch and really good graphics. Good for science buffs.

Saw Triangle (2009) - a brilliant movie and the storyline is woven extremely well to a surprising finale.

These are the notable 2 of 4 that I saw over the weekend!

Mad Max: Fury Road
Boy o boy what a movie! No other movie has given me such an adrenaline rush as this one. The movie is non stop beautiful action right from get go. The story is very simple. Bad guys are chasing good guys. But it is the execution that is thrilling. I literally held my breath without realizing it at various points in the movie. No wonder I felt a little drained by the time the movie ended.
Watch it for the desolation it portrays and the human nature to overcome it, to look for greener pastures.
I guess it goes without saying i give the movie a 5 out of 5 or 10 out of 10 or a two thumbs up. Pick your favorite rating system, give it a full rating.

EDIT: I also saw Avengers Age of whatever couple of days back. All memory of that movie has been erased by Mad Max. Thankfully! Only thing i remember coming out of the Avengers movie was, wishing they went back to making 90 minute movies.

Agreed 100%!

Mad Max: Definitely adrenaline rushing nitrous shot experience!! CGI, effects and cars and bikes and trucks!! The art work and design in the movie is in another level of imagination. I gotta watch it again!

Coming to avengers. Quite possibly THE worst avenger movie ever. Crappy story, CGI, acting and product placements! Oh.. Unwanted romance sequence too. Cant wait for Honest Trailer guys to hulk smash it!
