You bet. It was taut and pretty good until the end. No clue till the end if it was a game or happening in real.

Climax was neat, i thought Douglas killed Sean...but..

Madison County is on my list too. And Meryl Streep in a career spanning 4 decades has acted in 40 odd films, been nominated in more than half of them for various awards and won a few as well. Need one say more about her?

Edit - Meryl Streep has made a lot of appearances on the idiot box as well and has been equally showered with awards.
Yup, i saw Julie & Julia just for her. What a fine actor she is! Have been watching a lot of different films lately, thanks to wifey who's put a brake to action, violent, horror movies for a while .

Watched The Informant yesterday. Matt Damon stars in this corporate crime story. The role of the informant with bipolar disorder (whatever does that mean?) is very unlike Jason Bourne but he pulls it off well.

Well most of his roles before Bourne were very very unlike to that role, so we know he can pull them off. Will have to check this one out!

Caught this one last night:

Playtime: It is the first movie of Jaques Tati that I have seen, and the way the movie is structured and the comedy sequences, which are more complex/ subtle than slapstick really work. It is a French movie, released in 1967, in which Tati plays Monsieur Hulot a simple frenchman trying to come to terms with a new Paris and his recurring encounters with an American tourist Barabara (played by Barbara (Duhh...) Dennek). The movie is a slow burner, but really different. I need to catch other movies by Tati.....

BTW, the cubicle set of Tati's is really awesome. Do remember the movie predates the modern cubicle farms by at least 20 years.

Rating 4/5

Just watched 'the Saint' on HBO.
Quiet a gripping movie and nice thriller.
Its a story of a thief who is after a cold fusion formula.

Will rate it 4/5.

Watched Cold Mountain yesterday. The best part of the movie is it's cinematography. They've shot those scenes of the village on the foothills of the mountain so nicely that you feel like being there in many scenes. The story itself is also a good one although it may seem a little bit long. A must watch in my books. Will get the blu-ray just to watch the lovely vistas, sure it'll look better on high def.

Caught these over the weekend:

1. Law Abiding Citizen: Starring Gerard Butler and Jamie Foxx. Butler becomes enraged when the criminal who killed his wife and daughter gets off with a low sentence after some deal making by Foxx, the DA's golden haired boy. After a decade he takes matters in his own hands and kills off the actors in the case and the corrupt 'system' one by one. Nice, tight screenplay helps this movie which is quite predictable otherwise. Foxx cant act, while Butler has just the one style. Worth a watch once for the nice, tight action. A little gory at times though. 3/5

2. Beyond a reasonable doubt: Remake of an earlier classic, starring Michael Douglas as the DA Hunter and Jesse Metcalfe as a reporter who wants to prove that he is fabricating evidence to bump up his conviction rate. He decides to plant some circumstantial evidence to implicate himself and tapes it, so that he can prove his innocence later once the DA has fabricated DNA evidence. As is the norm, things go wrong and the film evidence is destroyed. With a help of DA's assistant he goes on to prove his point. Highly predictable, no tension, and useless twists mark this movie. Avoid it. 2/5

For tonight, planned for the 1965 French movie Pierrot le fou. Will let you know how that turns out.
