Try clicking the "x" button highlighted above and then using the "Stop seeing this Ad" option.

Tried this multiple times. It still pops up.

Is it because I have not opted in for google ad personalisation

Have never tried personalization so can't say if it works with 100% certainty across each ad category. If you do try it, do let us know here.

The other options other than above are:
1. to use an ad blocker extension in the browser (will block all ads)
2. Use an extension for browser like DuckDuckGo to block tracking but not ads

Both are not 100% guarantees- in the former, it might make browsing tedious with some sites forcing you to disable blockers and the latter not being 100% able in blocking all tracking

Really like the changes to Team-BHP social media posts - they’re a lot more engaging and much less robotic - but I believe this Tweet should read ‘her Hyundai Creta’ and not ‘his Hyundai Creta’? I believe the BHPian in question has stated it explicitly on the forum.

Not that I grudge donations, I'm probably being served ads because my browser is reporting the donations made previously. But use of such images is unacceptable - it is sheer exploitation.

User friendly interface for browsing car models

Team-BHP is an encyclopedia and with it comes the challenge to handle information overload. Our forum is undeniably best organized. However, the current format of threads and posts may not be the most effective layout for common public looking for example basic searches.

Let us say, I am looking for a particular car model, today I cannot navigate to it but instead have to use the search engine. And search engine will throw probably tens of hundreds of threads and some of them running into hundreds of pages. It becomes humanely impossible to filter out information that one requires.

My suggestion is, may be it is a good idea that we have a layout of brands and models (something like car classifieds). As a user navigates to a particular brand and model, he/she could see the most engaging threads on top with most impactful posts/information summary related to the specific model. We have it for our official reviews on our home page, may be we can do something similar with related threads as well.

Try using Brave browser. I have been using it for many months now and it effectively blocks all the annoying google ads.

If you are used to Chrome, you might find Epic Browser very very easy to use. It's an Indian product (hell yeah), which has a built in ad blocker, tracker blocker and VPN.

A better way to catalogue the official and unofficial reviews. Currently, on the homepage, once you select a brand, you can see 6 latest reviews of the brand. However, these even include unofficial ones posted by members. While I'm not knocking on any of the unofficial reviews, the thread posters might have some level of bias, owing to the fact that they've spent money on the car/bike in question.

So I have two suggestions.

1) Mark the official or unofficial reviews in some way on the homepage (could be a small logo/sign, whatever).
2) Allow us to see more than 6 reviews per brand (hopefully all existing reviews should be linked here, official and unofficial) without being just redirected to the reviews forum which might overwhelm the average non-TBHP reader who might not know where to search, etc.

I don't post on the forums these days. However, I still visit the site almost every day, and the forums too. The official reviews are impeccable and the interface to browse/search through them needs to be fleshed out properly.

The "Official New Car Reviews" is a goldmine of information. Many a times, BHPians refer to numerous vehicles in their posts, quite a few of which, I at least, have very less information. Out of curiosity then I search, identify and read up about it.

I would like to propose a simpler way to do the same. Hovering over any Wikipedia link gives you a clickable popup, which takes you to the destination.
Can something similar be implemented on TBHP, where it will take the user to the related official review?

Report Post - A Suggestion

As has been reiterated many times, Reporting a Post is an important step in maintaining the quality as well as impartiality on the forum.

When we report a post (of other members) and subsequently when an edit/delete happens from a moderator’s side, we have no way of knowing (other than going back to the thread and searching for it) the action taken.

It would be good if the PM that is sent to the poster of the edited/deleted text also gets delivered to member/s who reported it.

Not practically possible, and not really wise.

Other than public Mod Notes appended to actual posts, which serve a dual purpose of informing the poster and educating other readers, communication between moderators and members really has to remain confidential.

(I am not, and never will be, part of the Team-BHP mod team: I burnt out as a moderator on another busy forum fifteen years ago and said never again. So, not T-BHP, but I do have a heap of experience on the topic)
