Absolutely. And how would it work if I want to search? The indexing doesn't happen on the content of the video. The content creator has to create indexes while uploading the video but even then it's not equivalent to text search.

Just give me the ground clearance in plain hard numbers, don't make me watch your video if a 500ml Parachute coconut oil bottle fits under the car.

And many members are going to be small-screen users.
Double edged indeed because if I quote a comment with an image, it just becomes a clickable link in my post so unless next reader is deliberately clicking on the link or scrolling up to original post they won't know what I'm talking about.
Oh and same problem with indexing as with videos. How would I ever reach this image of ARAI fuel efficiency of a car?

Re: Suggestions for Team-BHP from Team-BHPians

Would love it if this button was present at the top of the page (on mobile), rather than at the bottom. Scrolling down through a long summary of the thread / post is annoying enough without the reply comments too. Then there’s the main issue of coming across spoilers. Half the fun is gone!

I opened tbe thread to make a suggestion, and realized it has already been made before:

It is needlessly bothersome to scroll down each time. Many, I suppose, would simply want to read the thread, than read a part of it as a write up, and then re-read it on the thread. A button on top of the write up would work for both - those who want to glance at the write up and those who simply want to head for the thread.

Please make this change

Looks like this change was implemented at some point and then reverted? Not seeing this button at the top of the news item now.

Re: Suggestions for Team-BHP from Team-BHPians

Mods

Is there any way to request for an independent thread in the What Car section ? My post got merged with a thread which has low visibility and despite reporting my own posts, asking to convert into a thread, I have not received any response.

I remain cognizant of the fact that similar posts will be merged into existing threads to avoid clutter but I believe that my requirements are not similar to the thread it is merged into

Cheers

I had noticed that yesterday or the day before.
Now most links open in forums but some on TBHP with the button at the bottom.

Quite a useful feature unless we're sensing member logins and always opening forums.
Can we please have either of the two

Re: Suggestions for Team-BHP from Team-BHPians

How does the Hot Threads logic work, is it automated? I see same thread twice on first page. Similarly, when you have a thread open the hot threads section at the bottom of the page also show duplicates (for example, it is showing Hyundai's GNCAP disaster thread twice, right now.) In my opinion that place could be much better utilized considering every tile occupies pretty big area on the screen.

Re: The Turbodiesel Trot | GJ to pick up a W123 Mercedes

Hi everyone, apologies for posting in the wrong thread. But can someone guide me as to how I can made posts on the team-bhp website. I've been a member for a while but still haven't got the hang of making full length posts. It'll be really helpful if someone can guide me through it.

Thanks

Welcome to the forum Piiyush.

The first option is to find the right thread and post like you just did above.

For largish posts you can use the Assembly Line Section (More Information about this sub-forum). Here, you have the ability to EDIT your post over an indefinite period of time; add more attachments / content / posts to your work-in-progress review post/thread at your own pace.

Once done, you may report the post, and a Team-BHP Moderator will move your thread/post out to the public forum.

Thanks!

Re: Suggestions for Team-BHP from Team-BHPians

Dear Admins,
This post is regarding viewing only photos in a thread.
There is already a thread/post about this (Viewing the pictures (ONLY) of a thread).

However, when following above instructions, one gets a list of images like this:

Suggestions for Team-BHP from Team-BHPians-temp1.png

Then, one has to click on each item in the link to view the particular image. Can we not have a gallery of thumbnails/previews instead? It would then be easy to identify which image(s) you are looking for.

Re: Suggestions for Team-BHP from Team-BHPians

Though the below aspect has already been discussed in this thread, presenting it with more detail and from a different perspective:

[1] When a post is edited (whether by the OP within 30 minutes or by mods), the system should trigger a PM to (a) each member who thanked the post, (b) each member who had quoted the post.

[2] Consider two members, X and Y.
X has made a post, say post-1, in some thread.
Y is in the process of composing a post quoting post-1.
At the same time, X is editing post-1 within the 30-minute window.

Case 1: X submits the edited post before Y submits their response. So, when Y tries to submit their post , Y should get an alert to the effect that post-1 was edited, would they like to check the same before submitting their response.

Case 2: X submits the edited post after Y submits their response. Then point [1] above applies.

The reason for the suggestion is because I have encountered both the above scenarios.

Re: Suggestions for Team-BHP from Team-BHPians

Recently, on every new car launch, we have some user's posting supposed "insider" information which has mostly turned out to be wrong later. Obviously we have exceptions in the form of users "Ram87pune" and "RavenAvi" who have been pretty accurate with their scoops time and again.

To speculate on the features, price, launch etc of a product is one thing but to post "insider scoops" without any credibility adds nothing to the discussion IMO.

Can we regulate this somehow? Or am i out of line and it does not warrant moderation?

My suggestion would be for the user's to verify themselves with the moderators about their sources if they cannot disclose publicly on the forum and if moderators find it acceptable, then the said user's be allowed to post scoops.
Now, the said scoops may turn out to be wrong at a later stage as with any information but this process might help in filtering out the clutter.

P.S no offense intended to anyone.

Re: Suggestions for Team-BHP from Team-BHPians

There is an auto-load option which loads the next page when we scroll down. Similarly, can we have the auto-load option when we scroll up too, with the loading icon animating in the anti-clock wise direction?

I am not sure if this has been covered, but in case of quotes, can there be an option to click on the quoted post to revert to the orignal post which is quoted?

Click on the red square inside the quote (next to the member's username).

Re: Suggestions for Team-BHP from Team-BHPians

Hi admins,
Off late we're getting more and more wider monitors and we prefer it due to its obvious advantages. The issue I face when browsing the site in such monitor occurs when I'm reading a paragraph that has 5-6 lines. When I finish, let's say, the 2nd line and move my eyes all the way to the left of the screen to read the 3rd line, I mostly end up with 2nd line again due to the length of the line in these wide monitors. The content adjusts itself to the entire width of a monitor. If it can be made like Facebook or Twitter which takes up only a limited width however wide the monitor may be, it'll help in ease of reading lengthy paragraphs which often is the case in official reviews. I'm guessing this comment of mine would give the same experience when viewed in a wide monitor.

Thanks.
