Bhuvi is injury prone. He couldn't even complete 4 overs every match in IPL recently before getting injured. Hasn't played a test in 3+ years. No way he was getting selected.

Chahar doesn't have the domestic performances to back a claim. This pace attack selected is really good and the backups are equally worthy. As for swing, Shami, Siraj, Ishant and even Umesh can make the ball talk so it's not a problem. The real issue will be if our batting will survive against Anderson, Broad, Archer, Woakes etc. Cos we know the moment red ball swings our batsman collapses.

Also

Bolt, Wagner, Southee and Jamieson. This is a S-C-A-R-Y attack. Thanks heavens Shaw was not selected to open. Another failure would have dented his confidence. Let it build up for the white ball game.

Completely agree with you about Bhuvi & Chahar. Most of the pacers selected are good no doubt & they'll do well but they're more hit the deck kinda bowlers! How will they be able to replicate the swing of Boult & Southee in the nets? Thats why I feel Chahar & Bhuvi should have been there as net bowlers atleast.

Not too bothered about WTC.
ICC messed up by keeping it at 1 test. You can't decide a champion in tests based on 1 test. Should have been minimum 3 tests. Now it's a lottery. Win the toss and you have the advantage big time. Not fair to both teams.

Bhuvi's career in tests is all but over due to his fitness issues. No point in looking at him and that's why they are grooming others. Bhuvi can play T20's when his body allows. Sad but true.

You are underestimating our bowling attack. They were really good on last tour of England and if batting had clicked result would have been different. We have won last 2 series in Australia primarily cos of our bowling so I got full confidence in them. If we manage a 300 + score, it will be hard to beat us.

As is the norm in England. Boundary count

I think they may share the trophy.

If drawn or tied, the finalists would be declared as joint winners.

Re: The Cricket Thread

India to tour SL for a limited overs series in July!
Hope KL Rahul is part of the SL series rather than warming the bench in England.

Re: The Cricket Thread

I'm sure we have many fans of Sanjay Manjrekar here

On YouTube, @robelinda2 has posted about a forthcoming episode on Manjrekar's worst batting exploits (apparently many viewers have asked for it), so they're on the lookout for a video title from viewers and the comments (title suggestions) are absolutely hilarious as one can expect

- Reserve Day to make up for loss of playing time during the regular days of the Final – scheduled to be played from 18 to 22 June, with 23 June set aside as the Reserve Day.

Re: The Cricket Thread

India Vs NZ WTC final - Does New Zealand have a slight edge in terms of understanding the conditions better and much needed match practice prior to the big game, since they're currently playing a test series against England ?

And, Devon Conway is a great find for New Zealand, making his test debut at the right time with a world record double century at Lords. South Africa have potentially lost another good player after Wagner who also moved out of the country.

In other news, looks like Corey Anderson will move to the US to play for their national team and maybe even Unmukt Chand may soon follow ?

Re: The Cricket Thread

New Zealand drubbed England in the 2nd test yesterday at Birmingham to record their first series victory in the Old Blighty since 1999. With this victory, kiwis now are leading the test rankings displacing India at the top. Kiwis will be brimming with confidence ahead of the WTC tie against India.

1. Yes, they must be well versed with the conditions. Also, with such a thumping win, team must be high on confidence. However, I feel England is a wrong choice for such World Cup matches. It is predicted to rain on first 4 days.

2. SA have lost many before and will keep the trend going for sometime. They need to get their domestic structure sorted, internal politics straightened and raise the monetary benefits for cricketers.

3. Yeah, Chand and Anderson have already landed US. What I read was there was another under 19 WC winner Indian player who has migrated. Already their captain is an established indian domestic cricketer and apparently he and Chand have been influencing few others to migrate. US is serious about Cricket.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Slightly off topic

Watching the recently concluded England - New Zealand test match gave me a weird thought.

The England Cricket Team could well be used to write a story on the evolution of Humans. How? Read on -

They have the natural resources to begin with in Mark WOOD and Olly STONE
Humans were foragers and gatherers, known to eat directly from the trees and hence they have Joe ROOT to fill their stomachs
Scavenging for food meant that inevitably humans would encounter Jack LEACH
Learning to hunt was an important step and hence we have Jofra ARCHER
Raw meat was more edible when prepared well, or as we can say - Alastair COOK
Cooking also meant they mastered the use of fire thus resulting in less injuries and for that its Rory BURNS
As cooking matured, restaurants could be opened, the most popular being Stuart BROADway. Here, one would even get their own Jos BUTLER
The expenses for your stay and meals could be settled by Sam BILLINGS
And to oversee the whole human civilization, we always need Ollie POPE

Cheers - no offense meant to anyone
