I read somewhere else on this forum that an alternator change had resulted in the Krr noise disappearing.
You should have read about it in my post. Its still there but I dont hear it often as I rip my 2.2 these days

I got this problem immediately after the 1st service and at the time of test drive. Solution offered was replacing the accelerator pedal assembly. The sensor was faulty.

I agree with you.

But am also suspecting the boost control solenoid going sticky, but cannot be sure without a technical diagram in hand and some diagnostic runs.

Yes, I didnt expect it to go away with the replacement, alternator is always ON, so noise should've been always "ON" . Its definitely something mechanical.

Anyone knows which brand of engine coolant is used by the factory ? Is it Radicool from Castrol, not sure which one to use to top up?

As for engine oil, did any of you try Mobil Delvac MX ? whats your opinion on it and where in Bangalore can I source it from ?

I suggest you try Delo-400 instead of Mobil Delvac MX.I have run my Safari (2.2) both on Delvac MX & Delo-400 and I do feel a perceivable difference.

What is the ideal KMS for 2nd service for the 2.2?

My vehicle has done 7500kms on the ODO. I did 1st service at 1000kms and also did oil change. According to manual it is 15000 for 2nd service!! Its also given that if more than 50% is in city conditions then service at 7500.

Very confusing..Please advise ??

I would say apprx between 7.5-10k, you should get it done. anyway you cant go beyond an years limit too for your second service.

I would strongly recommend the 7500km OCI.
15,000 km is just asking for trouble in the long run.

I fully second the above statement. When I changed engine oil @ 9000kms, it looked and felt terrible.
All this talk of newer long drain oils which exceed API ch4++ specs is fine, but no one knows how these actually affect the engine in the long run.
The TASS service are new ITI recruits who will tell you exactly as per their company training program.
BUt i remember reading in the manual - oil change every 7500 for city driving and other demanding driving conditions.

They used Mobil for my 7500 oil change and Castrol for my 15k oil change. I am bit worried about the oil grade used for my 2nd oil change though as its not CH4.

The air about Fuel Filter change

I saw the Service Bulletin myself and it categorily states that for all DICOR engines the Fuel Filter needs replacement only after 30,000 Kms, even for existing On-road vehicles.

The only key is, provided the existing Fuel filter has the Part no : 253409110117. If not, it will still be requiring a change at 15,000 Kms.

I hope it clears up the air around the fuel filter now.

Shift to API-CH4+ after 5,000 kms on the Castrol CF4.
Don't forget to replace oil filter.

@das, I went for the oil change and now the bull runs on Delo 400, it confirms to CH4 + MB 283.3 as prescribed in the users manual. I drove around 650km since the change. and there is a noticeable difference in the engine sound and overall refinement after the switch. This oil change happened at 4k.

I am seeing lot of fog accumulated inside and outside the front windshield and its worst when driven in rain. Defogging doesnt work well too. Is anyone else facing this ? Any clue how to fix this ? I have put garware film on the windsheild, would that be a reason ?
