I had similar experience when i had accent viva..

trust my words - you dont get 100% reimbursement. glasses will not come under warranty.. you can get 30-40% with ur insurance..

no matter you dont get NO CLAIM BONUS with the existing insurance guy..tell him that you are going to go with competition, then they will give that discount too..if not go with competition they will also give it.

Windscreen will not come under warranty if it is due to external damage. Else any manufacturing defects, leaks etc will be taken care under warranty.

The issue here is for insurance. All insurance will give 100% for the windshield, and 50% for the beadings, paste, etc. 100% for the labour to fix it. This has been the norms atleast till now.

MAY BE..i am a sales guy..so my thought may be in the same way.

Today a two-wheeler rear-ended my Civic-AT (at crawling speeds in city). There was a big dent in my bumper and I was feeling very sad .Then after I reached home I crept under the car and used my hand to push the dent, and magic! the bumper snapped back into place!

Now there is only a very slight dent which is nearly impossible to see!

I understood: the bumper is made of soft material so that it protects the car by taking the impact force. It also protected the two wheeler and its rider.

(Called Honda to check the rate of a new rear-bumper and was quoted around 10K bucks!)

Same thing happened with me. Honda reheated the small dent and it came out fully. Unfortunately, it has left the paint slightly uneven (looks like bubbles formed under the coat). Invisible to all but the most scrutinizing eye though.

good update; but I generally get my wheel balancing and alignment done outside; I have done a survey in Mumbai and I like a place in Thane wherein the mechanic has imported one of the top end machines to do the job. cost is appx Rs.1100-1200 for a thorough job including cost of weights. personal attention given.

my sincere advise to all owners of Civic or City....pls get the A/C serviced atleast every 40k kms. Indian road / atmospheric conditions create havoc with the system leading to fungus, dust, grime, etc. Also, the cost of replacement of any parts should there be a major mechanical let down due to lack of regular service is high.

Any idea on the grade of mineral oil that goes into the Civic ? I get Honda Genuine oil (re-branded Idemitsu) at the service centre only and nowhere outside but I dont remember the grade and the manual says the oil must conform to API SL or above but is quite generic about the grade of oil.

BAD NEWS FRIENDS!!!

Honda has revised Upwards the prices of spare parts for CIVIC from 17/04/09.

This is a major revision. The new prices are 2 to 5 times the earlier prices. For example the drive belt (alternator/P.S./Engine belt) has gone up from Rs.713/- to Rs.3777/-. For your information the size is 7PK1960 in my Civic S MT of 2006. This should be available in the range of 700/- or so with Gates etc. (Very reputed and perhaps the oldest brand in the world).

Similar differences for other products too.

I will have to go in for outside parts instead of HONDA branded spares.

Already using outside brake pads, as the Honda ones cost 5500/- to 5800/- + tax per rear or front set (4 pieces each) (11300/- for a set of brake pads for all the 4 wheels)??????????? WOWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!

I will advise other Honda owners also to start using mostly outside spare parts, ut do judge the quality. No difference in quality for most parts, maybe even better.

This week, I'll be doing the 30K service. Going good so far. I hear some peculiar sounds(clinging sounds like some moving in a closed container) while jumping some potholes - which need to be checked.

I will also clarify with the dealer about the price hikes for spares.

Mileage in city stays still at around 12. touch wood.

For the oil see what the specs are. For the majority of us semi-synth may be the way to go. Recently I came across a semi-synth from Petronas (Mach5) which is very reasonably priced. I go by the viscosity ratings and API ratings of the oil required. At present the highest API-SM is met by both semi and full synth oils.

That is the engine mount, which needs to be changed.
