Need a few views
1) Do Yoko dbs wear out so fast - 15 to 20K kms?
2) Is it time to check all suspension components?
They certainly shouldn't be wearing out this fast. Have you been doing a lot of excursions lately? Many Highway runs?

How old is your car?

In a fwd car the rears shoulld outlast the front by a big margin. Even with spirited driving I will say 25k is the minimum. Get it checked out.

Almost 10K plus on the highways. 7+ years, 115K Kms

Most of the 10K was spirited driving .
Precisely my thoughts, I must check the rear suspension thoroughly now.

What all components could go wrong?

Alignment, many independents forget that it is an independent rear suspension.
Bearings is another possibility.

re: Honda Civic : Maintenance, Service Costs and Must dos

I am looking forward to buy an OE alloy for my Civic as the spare wheel is a steel-rimmed one (thanks to Honda's cost cutting tactics). I have reached out to HASS and yet to get a response. Not sure if they have it readily available and even if so, it should be pricey.

In the meanwhile, wanted to check if there are any other sources of procuring the same. I am open to used ones as well as long as they are in good condition.

@rr_zen; Just check on the wheel size, rim width, and (often forgotten) offset. Today most jokers give only four alloys. I bargained the fifth in when buying my car.

If I source it through HASS should it not be the OE alloy itself ? Also, am looking at used OE Civic alloy wheels only if HASS does not work out. In fact, my car is a V MT and the alloy design is marginally different from the S MT so I need the one for the V MT only.

Details of the alloy evolve. For example I got the 5th alloy for my Brio a month after I bought the car. The insert had gone grey from the normal while/silver. Now I hear that Honda are trying to match the details by using at the chassis number.

This is interesting to know at the same time compounds my problem. So does it then mean any wheel from an older car(Civic) may or may not be a direct fit onto my car?

@rr_zen; It will fit but may not be a visual match.

That's interesting, especially since there are not facelifts that happened post 2009 for the Civic. Please do let us know in case you find the same discrepancy with the Civic OE alloys.

I have another question. Planning for a 700 km one way trip. Normally this is done with 4 people, but this time, there could be a fifth person. Any tips on how to make the rear center seat comfortable for this type of journey?

Civic is blessed with a flat rear floor, but the center seat is not at all comfortable for long distance drives :(

IMO we have no option but to live with what we have. I have never taken 3 adults at the rear so far nor would I ever

On a serious note, I guess any car is designed to carry 4 adults and maybe 1 or 2 small children comfortably. Its a no-brainer that the level of comfort is inversely proportional to the number of people you have in the car.

Just spoke to the guy at HASS and he has asked me for the chassis number of the car. Said he will let me know the availability and cost tomorrow.

re: Honda Civic : Maintenance, Service Costs and Must dos

On September 2008, while I was returning from Goa I had run over a flat stone at high speeds. One alloy got a crack, hairline, I went to Dakshin Honda and ordered a spare alloy.

They sourced it in a weeks time and I paid 7150, as simple as that. Now I read from your posts life is not so easy

Anyways here goes the picture of the new alloy I sourced
