Anyways here goes the picture of the new alloy I sourced

Now I have six wheels
Have you been able to install the new wheel successfully onto the car or face any issues ? From the pic, I see the price is about 7k and this is for the S variant alloy wheel. Mine is the V variant and has a slightly different design. Don't know if the price for it would vary much from what you have paid.

This was in 2008. Cost mentioned was in 2008.

I had no issues in anything, it is just like any of the other 5 alloys which came with the car.

I just went to HASS told them I needed an alloy since one developed a crack, only question asked to me was do you want to claim insurance, I said no. Then the service advisor checked for the part number, checked with spares, since it was not readily available, placed an order and I picked it up after a few days.

Just like any parts, this wheel fitted as it was built to.

I do not understand the confusion here, the alloy wheel has a part number, and placing an order for it should get you the part. Is it different these days?? If I can source one for S, you should be able to source one for V

No confusion. Just curious about any price difference between the two models, that's all.

re: Honda Civic : Maintenance, Service Costs and Must dos

I might need to change brake pads/discs.
There's quite a bit of vibration when braking from high speeds. Braking from 100 odd is not an issue.

Called up an auto parts store. These are the quotes:
'Honda OE' front pads - 2200 pair
'Honda OE' rear pads - 1700 pair
'Imported OE spec' front discs - 3500
'Imported OE spec' rear discs - 2800

How do these prices sound?

Any other alternatives? Any places I can buy online? Or order from some reliable shop to be shipped to Kolkata?

Any feedback on FBK brake pads? These are Thai make.

Maybe you should try disk skimming first before going for a disk replacement. As per other bhpian's the prices seem right.

re: Honda Civic : Maintenance, Service Costs and Must dos

Guys i am facing a really really weird problem with the civic and i really really hate it when these things happen to me.

Today while driving from office to home i found the rear door locks were getting activated. The rear locks only would lock unlock lock unlock several times while driving.

A google search shows crv has a actuator which causes the same.Has anyone faced similar issue ?

Thanks

Just heard from the guy at HASS. Looks like the alloy will cost 6.3k INR and will take around 15-20 days for delivery. Will be placing an order soon.

If at all you happen to visit this store, can you get more details as to make etc, a picture would help a zillion times.

I am on the look out for pads

re: Honda Civic : Maintenance, Service Costs and Must dos

Compared the discs with a fellow bhpians 5yr old Civic today. The discs on my car have some rusting around the edges. However, the disc smoothness was similar in both cars. We noticed that my front right disc seemed to have some gaps in between the 'shiny' portions. Possibly the pad is not fully in contact. I doubt if it's a warped rotor. Can't seem to recall major stresses on the rotors. Seems more and more like a pad replacement situation.

Doubt if I'll go there
I'd ideally like to explore reliable online options. Even Amazon.com is under consideration. But the Civic models there are US specific. EX, DX etc. Would you know which car model I should select so that the pads will be a direct fix on the Indian Civic?

Did you check the FBK brakes link I posted above?

Is it the cost to replace some internal electronics or will the visible display itself to be replaced?

re: Honda Civic : Maintenance, Service Costs and Must dos

I'm giving my car for service today..clocked 96k kms so it's going to be the 1,00,000 kms service. Is there something important that Ive to keep on mind, besides the things mentioned in the manual?

The spark plugs will be replaced this time I think, so that's going to be a major cost.

re: Honda Civic : Maintenance, Service Costs and Must dos

Just got a call from the folks at Southend Honda, mathura road. Every things seems fine except that they say the Power steering pump and the hose has a leak. I have been quoted an alarming 12k for the hose and 16k for the pump plus labour. This is blasphemic. The 1,00,000 service only is costing me Rs 14000, including the cost of the spark plugs replacement.

The power steering leak doesn't seem to be too serious as the fluid level in the reservoir is quite stable. I don't trust the
Honda report as of now.

What should I do?
