I have seen the can! Also, this grade is Ok for all VTeC engines. Maybe Mk.I and II City were not happy. Remember the semi- can be badged as Savita or Idemitsu!

re: Honda Civic : Maintenance, Service Costs and Must dos

I am running Total 10 W 40 and have it's been 6 months since i got it changed. I have done around 3500 kms on same with the last 2500 on CNG. I was wondering whether i should go for the change or wait for 1500 kms more which can happen in just a month's time.

re: Honda Civic : Maintenance, Service Costs and Must dos

Thanks to Bangalore Traffic.... A 20 seater force cut me through sharply from left, and seeing a vehicle slowing down in front squeezed infront of me in my lane, Even though I went to a dead stop his rear touched my Civic's left front assembly...Result?

1. No major scratches
2. Fender which joins the bumper is pushed inside by 2 inches, reducing the gap between fender assembly and bonet as well
3. Bumper clips is disloged on the left side

I came to HASS for regular service... they said a tinkering is required for the fender and bumper half paint...around 8K... I was planning to get this done outside, when they says the Headlight clamp is broken inside and it will never have a perfect fit, need to replace the headlight assembly when there is absolutely no visible marks on the headlight itself. Now that's a costly affair!

Question, with my limited experience with Civic what should I do?

Sorry to ask a very basic question, what is the oil + filter change interval for non synthetic Oil used by Honda Service Centre. I was under the impression it was 10k or 1 yr ?

I think it's 5K/6 months for mineral. For synthetic it should be 10K/1 year whichever is earlier.

re: Honda Civic : Maintenance, Service Costs and Must dos

I feel the six months is a joke. As per oil manufacturers all oils API-SF or higher are Ok for 12 months, so need not bother after the warranty is over. Remember the minimum specified by Honda is API-SL!!

Got my civic's front disc skimmed @ Rs.800 and labour @ 400. Steering wobble issue has reduced by 95% but there is a rough grinding noise while braking. Is this normal for a disc that has been skimmed for the first time at 47k kms?

re: Honda Civic : Maintenance, Service Costs and Must dos

Hello Moderators, I am not sure if this is the right place to post this,

After the last incident, I have been to both Honda body shop and Trident and these are the quotes,

Note : The bumper was repaired partially before so it is not in a brand new state anyways

Damages :

1. The last clip that holds it with the fender is broken
2. One headlamp mounting is broken

Trident recommendations :

1. Replace headlamp @ 2500 (aftermarket piece), PDR Fender and Repaint Bumper
2. 8 to 10 K total quote

However they are suggesting to claim and get it done from Honda

Honda Body Shop recommendations :

1. Replace bumper @ 15k
2. Replace headlamp @ 16k
3. Fender paint @ 6k

Total around 40k

Now i have TAIG Zero Dep, the insurance agent is requesting me to get this done outside as he is saying your policy is 1 month old and you can only claim 0 dep for the first 2 times

My question, shall I claim insurance or get it done outside?

I dont know your driving style, so not sure if you will need claims in the future. But IMHO, you buy 0 Dep insurance for these very circumstances - so get it done under that.

I am not really sure whether you should go the insurance way or not since you might lose your no claim bonus ,which if it's not as much as the total amount of repair should not be worth while. However this i know that your insurance agent would always want to save his company's money while making you give up yours.

Even I have been using shell helix ultra in my civic for the past one year. The engine runs a lot smoother with this oil

Honda Civic Maintenance and Service Costs and Must dos

@sumeethaldankar ..
Anxiously awaiting your report as I have been running on Shell Helix Ultra and was contemplating changing over to Total Quartz 9000. Though yours is a semi-synth to synth. change if I understand correctly.
