Could have given PDR a try. It's broken on my car too and the washer is holding up.

re: Honda Civic : Maintenance, Service Costs and Must dos

@sgiitk:The total premium I paid this year for an IDV of 7.5L is 9.7K and I was told by the insurance agent that I might lose 1.5K on the NCB. Considering that the cost of repair was on the higher side, I chose to go with this option.

Obviously you are not on high NCB and exclusion. I am on 50% NCB and get 2k off for a 7.5k exclusion!

re: Honda Civic : Maintenance, Service Costs and Must dos

Hi all, I have a Gen 1 Civic AT. Perfect car for highway cruising, however the one thing I miss the most in this is cruise control. Honda started putting cruise control in Gen II Civics (post 2009 I think). Has anyone been successful in getting cruise control retrofitted in their Gen 1 cars? It would make this car a perfect mile-muncher.

4. At a cost of 900 INR, TNG did its job pretty well, and a life of 15 to 20K is decent.
5. No surprise or panic situation in the entire duration of 15K.
Thanks for your detailed feedback and instructions on the brakes.

I had very good experience with TNG, one thing I noticed is that the TNG pads do produce a bit more dust?
Where did you find the WULF Pads in Bangalore?

Secondly, I see that the Brake fluid is very back in your car, Have you changed this ? You will notice a huge improvement once you bleed, the brake lines and use new fluid.

Is any one aware or faced ENGINE BLOCK RECALL for 2006 - 2008 Indian Civis ? Is this applicable only for American cars ?

Hi Sumeet,

This is normal for most cars where if there is an outpour of exhaust right in front of your bonnet (air intake), even with inner circulation setting there is some smell that gets in.

However, if this is happening even in most normal circumstances where for e.g. driving on the highway and you can smell each and every zone outside (drain / exchausts / smoke / etc), then you have a problem.

Ignore it if this was one off.

re: Honda Civic : Maintenance, Service Costs and Must dos

So after reading rave reviews of WagenWerkz in Mumbai coupled with my more than bad experience with 2 HASS (Solitaire & Linkway) on availability of spares, I have decided to give my car over to Jatin for a list of niggles that have been pending since I bought my used Civic S AT (2006 model).

It will now be a long wait for over a week to get my beautiful workhorse back, cant wait to see it pepped up and niggle free.

I will update on the service quality / attention to detail / cost once I get my ride back !

PART I: MECHANICAL
  1. General service and check up
  2. oil & filter replacement
  3. Suspension work
  4. General Tune up
  5. Brakes service / disc pads check
  6. Battery replacement
  7. Carburetor cleanup
  8. Power steering oil leakage check and refill
  9. Engine Coolant leakage check and replacement
PART II: AESTHETIC
  1. Plastic cladding for front wheel wells
  2. Moisture/leakage in front left side under Mat
  3. Fix Broken Back seat panel
  4. Fix Boot left side plastic cover on the joints
  5. Fix full Honda monogram at back
  6. Fix new floor mats
  7. Fix new OEM style steering leather wrap
PART III: ICE
  1. New ICE wiring (fader + balance not in place). Also if possible, fix a bass controller in front for the woofers
  2. Put front tweeters inside stock tweeter space

Are the OEM brake pads by Nissin? I need to get the rear brake pads replaced and I'm pretty happy with the stock ones, so don't feel the need to upgrade.

I read about sprint booster in one of the polo tsi threads on team bhp. On Google search, I found that it is available in US for around USD 289 for Honda Civic. Look forward to inputs if any of the fellow Civic owners have used it.

re: Honda Civic : Maintenance, Service Costs and Must dos

Hi Guys,

Some guy scratched my Civic in a parking lot, result, multiple linear scratches on left rear door and the panel behind.

I want to repaint both the parts, any clue what should be a reasonable job for a quality paint job for the two parts??

Any recommended painters in Ghatkopar, Vikhroli Areas?

Nissin is a reputable brand. Also, every manufacturer has two or more suppliers. I will get them without any qualms.

coolkurt are you sourcing them for the dealer or from the market. The dealer has recommended pads and rotors, front and back for my car (56K done), so I was looking at the options I have. I am in the NCR area too.

From the market. The dealer gets to touch my car only during service

I buy spares from Ghai Motors, Malviya Nagar and Batra Auto spares, ashram. Both are old, reputed.
