My service people have been using 10W30 mineral oil till now. 10W30 is specified in my getz manual for the array of temperatures mentioned. I want to know whether any of the mobil1 grades can be used on my engine? I have gone through many of the threads, also went to car bible for a detailed study but couldnt decide . So please help.
Hold the thought on 5W50 / 0W40 /10W30 - did you check the API Service Category of the synthetic oil? The Getz CRDi needs API CH or higher category engine oil, which should of course meet the SAE viscosity rating. When looking for synthetics for my Getz CRDi, I found that not many synthetics are CH rated - most are CF or CG at best. And that's why I settled with Mobile Delvac MX, a mineral oil, rated API CI+.

Ohh i didnt know that. Thanks for the help. May be I should start thinking about the mineral oil again.

By the way, I am also trying to get a K & N filter. I checked their site and came up with the part number - (33-2094) http://www.knfilters.com/search/product.aspx?Prod=33-2094. Can anyone help me on this whether this is the intended part or if this is available in bangalore.

Seems promising..
FIAT is using it officially , I posted sometime back on this thread.
learnt here that Selenia is bought over by petronas.

I saw a 210 liter barrel in Tata-Fiat workshop it was shipped from Patalganga
so probably reliance is manufacturing it as per the given specs and Petronas just procures and markets.

Yes, 15W40 it is. And for my running environment it is perfectly fine. In fact it should be find for most of our country's environment, except for those in the hills or regions where temperature drops quite low.

It is indeed the part number you mentioned, though not sure if there is any difference between Petrol and Diesel Getz's filters.

MRP is 240 a liter. Minimum I have heard is about 205 a litre.

Note, it is Mobil Delvac MX. Mobil1 is a synth oil.

Got the OIL and OIL Filter changed for my DDIS last week at 16k km.

Got 4, 1 liter packs of Delvac MX = Rs.950/-

This could have been much cheaper had I got it from the Distributor. But then didnt had enough time as the distributor is far from

where I stay.

The car feels rejuvenated and much eager when peddled.

This experience is getting better and better at every OIL change.

Also saw how the OIL and OIL Filter is changed. I know its mentioned in the manual. Not sure may be would take it as a DIY the next time for fun. The only concern being draining the existing OIL.

-

Had a bad experience at the service this time.

The SA didnt feel happy from the expressions he showed when I informed him that I just needed OIL and OIL Filter changed and the car washed and vacuumed.

The buggers scratched the left side of the cars front bumper.

This I realized because I stayed there and went inside to give them the OIL packages that I got. And also I wanted to see how its
done.

To calm me down they used some rubbing compounds and have reduced the bad effect and also waved off washing charges as the car was not washed properly due to heavy rush.

Car given at 8:30am and returned at around 1:30pm.

The dealer said, new stock will be higher priced.
