Whoa!! If only we can have about 20 BHPians with CRDi / DDiS / CRDe / whatever-they-call-a-common-rail to switch to Delvac 1

Maybe we should start doing things like this!

Btw, who buys these big barrels - A.S.S? If any of them are in or around Madras (including Bangalore!!), maybe I can pay them a visit

I gave my car for 30K service today(I took my own Delvac MX) and the service advisor was saying that they are now stocking Delvac1.
If I remember right, he was quoting around Rs 1000 + for a litre.
And was saying you can extend oil change to 20K instead of normal 10K.

Brickbats please!

I vividly remember having seen one Q&A in an auto mag ( Auto India or C&BI) many years back which went something like this.

Q : I fear I have not filled in the correct grade of engine oil; I used 20W50 instead of 20W40 ( or thereabouts). Will this cause damage to my engine?

A: ( From resident auto guru) Don't worry my friend : OIL NEVER HARMED AN ENGINE.

And he want on to say that as long as adequate quantity of oil is there; you should not be too worried.

Is the auto expert not an expert or is that the truth?

Which workshop is this? 1000 per liter is lil steep but obviously they would look for some margin for this rare commodity.

Never go by that! Even if I switch to fully synthetic, I wont drive beyond 7500 KM without an oil change (currently 4500 - 5000 with Delvac MX).

I personally believe Synthetic oil is waste of money. There is a case in this forum who on his swift Diesel has always used mineral oil (Mobil) changed the oil once every 20,000 kms and has driven 2,00,000 kms without any issue with the engine. He has decarbonised the engine only Once at 160000 odd kms. Amazing how modern diesel engines can last this kind of use.

I have switched to Mobil Delvac MX Oil.

Costed me around 1200 rs for 5 litres.

Engine performance has improved significantly,I felt it is bettar than any Castrol that is for sure + Better than Mobil oil of other Delvac make as well.

Really liked the performance it is a super grade 15w40 with CH4,CI4,& also caters to CG4.

Thanks

hey a very stupid question!
Isn't the Swift DZire Diesel supposed to have the Oil Capacity of 5 Liters? Do they fill it up completely or they use about 3-4 ltrs.
