Sorry, had missed this post. I think this is the prime reason why the Nano has a bad reputation. The access to the engine is so poor that the owner doesn't even bother to check the coolant levels. If the problem had snowballed into some big, like a seized engine, Tata motors would have had it.

These two statements doesnt support each other. Regular service interval is 1 year, your car is now 6 months overdue for service.

Get it checked with ASC. Looks like the assist to the steering mechanism is getting lost. Since the EPS light is coming on when the fault is occurring, ASC should be able to diagnose it faster.

Re: TATA nano - List of ALL issues

Thanks for the response.

would like to know why " EPS light is coming" occasionally.
For example i did not take the car out for the past 10 days but started once in 2 days when it was parked . The EPS did not come for the past 3 "starts" but yesterday when i just started the EPS light came & steering was bit tighter then usual free flow. Why is this ?

you mentioned "Regular service interval is 1 year, your car is now 6 months overdue for service."
yes..I would take it.

Re: TATA nano - List of ALL issues

My 2012 Nano CX is on its 3rd AC compressor now, all the previous ones were replaced under warranty due to compressor bearing noise. The problem is that this one has also started making noise , with the car out of warranty TASS is quoting 15k for a new one. Any idea if I can opt for the AC compressor from the Twist series? I understand that there are 2 suppliers Behr and Subros.

You should take this to Tata customer service to understand what is really going on than directly dealing with a dealer. There is no guarantee that the fourth one also will stay If the root cause of the noise is not identified. It could also mean an external factor could be the real cause since you are seeing the problem on 3 different compressors.

My mechanic says that there are compressors made by Panasonic as well. They're all extremely expensive, so what I've done is get it replaced by a used item from a place that sells parts from scrapped cars. It is running fine for the moment.

Wow, for a sales flop 3 suppliers for HVAC, no wonder they are in such a state with respect to profitability.

Well, I took my car to an AC guy, he said that the condenser was putting heavy load on the compressor because of less gas in circulation and that was the reason for the noise . He filled up the refrigerant ,checked pressure again and asked me to come back if the problem came up again.

So far so good, I see that the thermostat is also cutting in as usual and no sound from compressor.

It's my fault really , I am so preoccupied while driving to office I failed to notice the thermostat behavior which is a give away that the cabin is not cooling enough

***Need a trusted FNG for the Nano at Bangalore***

My Nano Cx, immaculately maintained and done 38k km in 6 yrs was taken to Concorde, Dairy Circle for its service and when taking it back, the attached list of faults was shown to us: -

I intend to get the car thoroughly checked and rectified at an ASC/FNG in Bangalore and any pointers to trusted people at these places would be helpful.

Re: TATA nano - List of ALL issues

thought many experts of nano read this thread hence posting.

Many showrooms in b'lore are quoting nano has stopped production and it is only on full payment they would deliver it , only XT variant is available at Rs 3.49 lakhs (after waiving off rs 22 k on insurance).

I got a 2017 model in mysore showroom, they quoted rs 3.38 laksh as someone booked and did not take delivery. As it is already 2 years old how much discount i could seek. I had quoted rs 2.75 lakhs.

Some pictures are enclosed, if some one has negotiated befor such deals pls help.

I think the tyres have gone & might have become hard , i might have to factor about rs 8 to 10k for tyre replacement.

Re: TATA nano - List of ALL issues

The Oxygen Sensor in my Tata Nano 2011 CX Model is not connected to the ECU. I found this after my FE went down and took a look of the O2 Sensor. My Nano has a single O2 sensor.

The wires from the sensor are disconnected. There are 4 wires. Their colours are Black, Grey, White, White.

They are not connected to the set of wires from ECU. The are of different colours.

I need help to connect the 4 wires from the O2 sensor to the wires on the ECU side.

My O2 sensor is like

Can you share the wire color codes at the ECU side connector please? We can figure out something.
The white wires of the O2 sensor are for heating it. It just needs 12V. No problem if the terminals are reversed. The black wire is connected to the ground and Grey carries Lambda signal from the sensor.

Thanks ilangop.

The O2 Sensor in my 2011 Nano is of BOSCH Make. i found out the color codes for the same. BLACK is signal, GREY is Ground, WHITE is Heater, WHITE is Heater.

Let me find the color of the 4 wires from the ECU end. Will try to take a photo.

The wires on the ECU side are RED, YELLOW, PURPLE, BLUEGREEN.

I used a ELM 372 OBD2 on my Nano yesterday. It showed a single fault. P0030. HO2S Fault. It is Heated O2 Sensor.

I need to connect the BLACK, GREY, WHITE, WHITE from my O2 sensor to RED, YELLOW, PURPLE, BLUEGREEN on the ECU side.

Any suggestions ? Can anyone share their existing Nano's O2 sensor color codes. Thanks in advance.

Re: TATA nano - List of ALL issues

Haven't updated for a while since I've been a little busy, so this will be a slightly long post. Please excuse.

1. Got a new set of headlamps for the Nano as the old ones reflectors have gotten too dull, the new ones are a direct fit and make the car look better. Cost: a little under Rs 3800 for the set.

2. Installed new headlamp bulbs, the ones that Phillips offers that has twice the light output but the same wattage. They're good, but don't make as much of a difference as in other cars. Adjusting the headlamps is a right pain in the wrong places. You can't adjust the beam without removing the unit itself from the mountings entirely.

3. Called Tata service to find out if I could get the anniversary edition alloy wheels. There's absolutely no chance I can get them, apparently. If someone here knows how I can acquire them, please guide me. I would really appreciate it.

4. AC condenser fan needed replacement because it stopped working. Not sure if it worked in the first place because I had the system overhauled just before the onset of winter.

5. Have got an HUD system that plugs into the OBD port from AliExpress... Have always wanted the full trip computer of the GenX Nano but in the old one. Cost: Rs 2300. Have an inter-city run to do this weekend. Will try it out then and report.
