Attention all Swift/Dzire/Ertiga/New Baleno Owners!!

Was going through the latest accessory brochure which my MASS got today. Two of the most sought after accessories, for which often the owners turn towards online "universal" options, are now available as MGA

1. Front Armrest(Black for Swift,Baleno, Beige for Ertiga and Dzire)
2. Rear foldable Sunshade

I may be wrong here, but the pricing & value of the Baleno seems to have stolen the thunder from the Swift. Is this a come back game for one of the first true hot hatches of India ??

The Baleno surely has affected the sales of the Swift. However Baleno is almost 100 kgs lighter than the Swift and as per one of my close acquaintance, Baleno's suspension is not better than the new Swift while dealing with huge speedbreakers.

Also the arm rest if installed in the Swift will serve only as elbow rest primarily due to its puny size. It doesn't fit well in my opinion and will affect the ergonomics of the front seats.

I agree!! Being non-adjustable in nature, they are not as good as the adjustable ones on the Brezza or the S-cross. Still, they are better than the cheap universal ones available online. Also, it screws to the handbrake console, and looks OEM.

I saw many people getting these installed, as something is better than nothing, and a resting elbow is better than a flying elbow.

The MGA armrest has a metal bracket which bolts directly to the floor and not on the flimsy handbrake console as is the case with the universal armrests. It Costs around Rs. 2.9k but the quality and finish is very good.

I'll hate Maruti Suzuki for this update from them as an OEM accessory even though it is steep in pricing but it is OE at least.

All the circus, time that I spent to hunt, do jugaad would have reduced had Maruti launched this armrest back then. Damn you Maruti.

But looking at the armrest in pictures, it seems to be small than what I am using currently.

Nevertheless better late than never. Now no Maruti owner would need to fend for armrests. Get the MGP if the budget works.

Considering Maruti's "Limited Edition" history, I sincerely hope that this is not all about some dumb racing lines, racing decales, racing stitches on the fabric, etc.

Maybe this time they will come up with the dual -tone offering How about this? ( just launched in Chile as LE)

If this is what will be eventually called as 'Limited Edition' in India, it will clearly showcase the 'Limited' ingenuity that Maruti has.

But then again, I personally hate Maruti cars and still feel that if tomorrow a vintage bullock cart is launched with 'Maruti Bred Bulls', it will push Renault Kwid in the 5th place!!

No drilling whatsoever. The metal bracket provided with the armrest replaces the stock handbrake lever mounting bracket. The armrest feels sturdy due to this bracket.
The existing power socket(in dzire) is swapped from the old console to the new one. It is a simple 15min job.

The armrest is of perfect size and doesn't foul with the handbrake lever or the seats. A must have accessory for long drives!

Thanks for the explanation. This makes the accessory a must have for every Swift/Dzire/Ertiga owner. I did see at my MASS that ergonomics post installation were spot on!!.

I would be more than happy to get it over the Baleno if it does get launched. Swift still continues to look sporty and bold. The only problem being the number of them on the roads. :(

Maruti Swift AMT might launch in the second half of 2016 - likely to be in its diesel variant.

The vehicle could be launched post the launch of Swift special edition that is scheduled to launch either this month or the next.
Though there is no clarity whether the petrol or diesel model of the Swift will receive this technology, we expect it to be a diesel AMT just like its sibling Dzire.

I have been noticing since last 2-3 days that the key gets excessively hot while inside the key slot. The same can be felt after removing the key from the slot. The area around the key slot also felt warm and I could feel the heat if I move my fingers around that area.
A slight warmth was also felt on the gear knob, just above the area where the leather cover starts.
All this with 100% AC.

While returning since the temperature here has gone down I wasn't using AC and I felt no unusual warmth around the key slot or gear knob and even the key when removed wasn't hot.

So what could be the issue?
Other Swift owners, is it the same in your car as well?
Mine is a petrol.

Yes, faced that more than once. My car is a 9 months old petrol, 82XX kms. done till date. But I had similar observations in my earlier car too. However, I am not facing similar issue in Wagon R.
Somehow, I dont think this is something to worry about. Am keeping the toolkit in my glovebox though ! Heat here is excessive and rather more than expected.
