Got some 3M stuff for car interiors and ext

All,

I bought some 3M stuff from Reliance Autozone (HSR) yesterday, it was a combi pack with following stuff

> Car shampoo
> Glass Shine
> Plastic Shine
> Tyre shield

Cost: 485

Free - 3M car care cloth(99.00Rs). Was looking for one from quite some time.

Didn't use them yet.

I found the shop very useful, one stop solution for almost all accessories, and they had discounts on almost everything. They themselves fit if required,

Would be a place to visit if in case.

Pics attached - sorry for the quality

I would suggest get the under chassis coating done (I got it done using Waxol) considering that you would keep rubbing against the "Hills" on the road. Most of the times the damage is a scratch which eventually may get rusted during rainy season.
Well said.

Did you get it Done from Magnum Honda?

How much did it cost?

Hi Raghu,
I got it done from Magnum for 3.5k. I think waxol is better since it doesn't chip off when there is an under chassis rub unlike 3M. The waxol sticks like a thin layer of tar

Also drive an i10 and there is no such issue, infact the gear shift is much smoother overall.
Bhaani,

Please get it checked, even I didn't feel it while TD, on asking the same SA said it would ease once more KM are driven.

In your case it doesn't seem to, I don't have this problem anymore.

Raghu, Sorry to hear about the crack in the windshield. The same incident happened to my previous car -- Hyundai Getz.

It still has a mark on the windshield but it never grew big. Probably I was lucky because these small cracks grow bigger when you drive in highways under hot sun.

Reached 9k mark

This time we planned to celebrate our daughters birthday at my in-laws place in Vijayawada.

Left Bangalore on 2nd of April and returned on 5th.

Onward Journey:
---------------

Fuel was till the brim and tyre pressure checked previous night while travelling back from work. This route was done by me many times and hence nothing to check and plan.

Milestones:
-----------

Left at 4:30 AM
Tirupati : 7:30 AM
Kalahasti: 8:00 AM (Had breakfast in APTDC restaurant)
Hit NH5 : 9:00 AM
Destination : 1:30 PM

Actual plan was to have the breakfast just before Chitoor By-Pass, but the routine hotel has been closed for some reason and hence we stretched to
Kalahasti.

Road conditions:
----------------

Bangalore - Kolar, lot of deviations because of 4lane work.Road condition is pretty decent, but with lot's of humps.

Kolar - Tirupati, good, though you can make a visible difference once you enter AP, roads turn better.

Tirupati - Kalahasti, good

Kalahasti - Nayudupeta, good to average

NH5 Nayudupeta to Vijayawada, Excellent

statistics:
-----------
Total Time : 9 hrs
Break time : 30 minutes
Journey time : 8 hrs, 30 min
Total KM : 700 KM (approx)
Standard speed : 80-100 KMPH
Peak Speed : 120 KMPH
AC Usage : 50%

Fuel Economy
--------------
Fuel economy : ~ 15 KMPL
The display indicator showed 16.5 KMPL (error of 1.5)

Driving Comfort :
-----------------

Excellent, just for couple

I drove Santro earlier on the same stretch for longer duration than now, it used to provide an excellent arm rest for the right hand, one could just place it on the door while driving without any issues.

I feel it's not that comfortable in ANHC, I felt pain couple of times and had to take off from steering and rest it on the door.

Instant mileage calculator is very distracting, is there a way to hide it. I was constantly staring it from time to time, it's not me this time

Return Journey:
---------------

Was alone as family had to stay back to attend a function.

Total time taken: 10hrs 30 mins ( had a pretty bad traffic jam in Kalahasti because of trucks parked either sides of the road)
Break Time : 0hrs 20min (for refuelling in Tirupati)

FE: ~15 KMPL

Had a good night sleep and back at work.

Iam nearing for my thrid free service as I clocked 9200km on my ODO. Iam planning to give it next week though it's not 10k but the journey I had is just making me think so.

Plans:
------

Opting for Synthetic Oil, want to feel the difference.

Complaints Any:
---------------

Nothing major, but

> Feel clutch bit harder these days.
> I remember someone mentioning virbation in clutch, I started feeling this while coming back don't know the reason. But it dissappeared now. Yet, need to be checked.
> Since I was alone, in-laws loaded the car with all grains possible , I felt thud noise coming from rear shocks while travelling on Kolar road which is
under construction need to check this, it was very annoying.

Why put the instant mileage calculator on display mode, rather use the KMs travelled or the trip meter. Being aware that the instant mileage calculator is not on display, will tend to make one look lesser at the ODO readings(IMHO).

Hi Raghu

You and your car seems to have travelled quite a distance.
Read about your car's windshield crack, your trip to Vijayawada etc.
Good to know that your trip was very nice, safe and productive.

Do not worry about the intant milage indicator, it is provided for guidance
i also used to look at it very often, but now i do not get distracted by it

Drive safe, Have fun.

Hi Arvind,

Thanks.

Initially I was not following it as I never drove for mileage, but looking FE figures from some of the post inclined me to do so atleast on the highways.

Hmm even I might get it off from the head going forward.

Have a nice day.

Cheers
Raghu

Update - 3rd Free Service

Monday Morning, didn't intend to go to office rather thought of getting the car serviced.

Got 3rd Free service done today, clocked 9850Km.

Dealer - Dakshin Honda
Dropped the car at: 11:30 AM
Picked it at: 6:00 PM

Bill Amount: 2554Rs

What got changed?

Opted Synthetic instead of Mineral oil this time. Yet to feel the difference as it might need few kms to clock before I get to feel it.

SA at Dakshin confirmed me that the oil change in case of Synthetic is 10k. So I probably would stick to Synthetic in case I feel a better edge than mineral.

Verdict: Service was done to my satisfaction. All my complaints were addressed and solved.

One issue though, rubber cushion for fuel lid is lost, I saw it only once I reached home. Identified by a very loud thud noise when locked the car, it really makes a loud noise. I would get this done tomorrow.

Raghu,
I believe this is Honda synthetic oil is it? Did you ask them if they could fill Mobil 1? Also did you fit K& N filters and do they crib about it?

Was waiting for an update from you regarding the 3rd service of your car as you had mentioned earlier about changing to Synthetic oil.

I understand from above that the oil change interval for synthetic is 10k kms but if ones running was very low, what was the equivalent duration in months, I mean was it (10k kms or 1 year) or (10k kms or 6 months) whichever is earlier.
