Jayanth, it was indeed Honda Synthetic. I had asked for Mobil 1, which SA didn't encourage. Since it was for the first time even I didn't mind trying Honda Synthetic. I didn't fit K&N, neither did I ask. Would check it with him. But most of the time we know the answer

Ya Kalyan delayed the service a bit as car was in need all the time since parents are in Bangalore. What SA had told me is 10k/1year. I felt it's great and hence was sure to opt for it this time. But for sure would cross check with Magnum guys as well, I see a different approach with all the dealers.

3rd Free Service review

Hi All,

After a shift to Honda Synthetic I started feeling the refinement in the engine, it's much more smooth now.

One query to all ANHC owners,

What is the quantity that normally goes for Engine Oil?

Reason I ask is I see a difference from dealer to dealer,

Eg.

My case Dakshin Honda Bangalore

2nd Service - billed for 3.5lts
3rd Service - billed for 4.0lts (Synthetic)

Kalyan's case

2nd Service - billed for 3.6lts

MVTEC's Case

at 3319 on ODO - Billed for 3.7lts
at 11443 on ODO - Billed for 3.6lts
at 15227 on ODO - Billed for 3.7lts

I see a more consistent quantity in case of MVTEC and he is completely on Synthetic from day 1, but I get a difference of 0.5lts

If the engine Oil is drained before the refill why do we see this difference? is it the fowl play of dealer? It considerably adds on the bill in case you have shifted/opted to Synthetic.

My gut feel is that the dealer is trying to bill you in rounded terms. Ideally, they shouldn't need to do it that way.

My H.A.S.S billed me Rs 150.00 in my first as well as second service as labor charges for consumables. On asking, I was told that they had to refill some oils(consumables) but since partial billing for small quantities is not allowed in such cases, they bill it in labor expenses.

I think 3.5-3.7 lts is the correct quantity of oil needed when fully drained and changed.

5 Day Visit to Hyderabad

Hi All,

Last week I had to plan a sudden trip to Hyderabad for series of ocassions, I tried booking for train tickets but couldn't manage one. I had no other option than driving, but was thinking how could I squeeze 5 Adults and 3 kids in to ANHC :-)

Then my cousine called me, he had come down to Bangalore for his personal work and was planning to return on the same day we planned our trip and there you go it should be a drive.

Total Cars: 2 (ANHC and Santro Xing)
Total Count: 6 Adults 3 Kids

Onward Journey on 19th May 2010:

Started from HSR at 4:15 AM, reached Hyd by 2:30.
Speed: 90-110
Top speed: 110KPH
AC: 100%
Break: 1:15
Milage on Indicator: 18.3KMPL when I reached Hyd, when I saw intermediate and took snap it was 18.0

I took PV Narasimha Rao Flyover accidentally, I would say

> Worst Fly over I have ever drove on.
> Ride is very bumpy, road stretch I used was around 4.5km till I could
find a U-Turn, it has been laid so uneven.
> Sharp turnings.
> Humps at turnings.

Toll paid on flyover : 0rs.

Return Journey on 24th May 2010:

Started from ECIL X Roads: 6:30 AM, reached Bangalore by 2:45
Speed: 90-120
Top speed:120KPH
AC: 100%
Break: 20min
Milage on Indicator: 17.3KMPL.

Road Conditions:

Excellent, 75-80% of 4Lane work is done, for rest road's are properly laid and adequate to cruise.

Overall trip data:

Trip Distance: 1485.3 KM
Total Petrol Consumed: 32 * 2 + 24lts = 88lts
Avg FE: 16.8KMPL this is because of the driving style,
Total Distance on ODO: 11745KM
Toll paid: 400rs Aprox.

Surprises in Hyd:

A full lenght wave scratched on from tail lamp till the front. I don't beleive it, I had nother choice than to park the vehicle on busy street due to a function at my friends place. Some moron intentionally scratched it. It left a medium to deeper scratch :-(, I said intentional because I would expect a straight line if it was an accident, but a wave.

A scratch on front bumper, when parked in GVK mall, looks like some one tried to squeeze in and left his mark.

Surprises on NH7:

None, but on my way back spotted a Baleno with "AP-03" registration, could meet him up at Gooty's BP filling station. He is a regular visitor but not a memeber of T-BHP.

Few Random Snaps:

Excuse for the pics quality, took it from phone

I feel the same about this fly-over, the surface of the roads is very un-even over the entire stretch.

The only good thing about this is that it has reduced the commute time/ distance to the airport from my place.

My car is full of such scratches esp on the sides, got two of them (full length, just as you mentioned) yesterday.

We park in the open at our office building and as its in a busy commercial area, it attracts a lot of unwanted attention.

Weekend Trip To Yercaud

Weekend Break:
------------------

It's been more than 10 months, we (group of 4 families) went for a weekend trip. It all started in June when we planned Yercaud, reasons

> Near to Bangalore
> Great road
> Hill station, nothing much to do just hangout as it's what most of the people needed.

But, it went in vein as one had to drop because of a meeting at their kids school.

Last week, we were back at planning and were deciding between Pondy/Yercaud. I was more inclined to Pondy as I love sea during monsoon. But, not everyone share the same taste.

So, finally it was Yercaud. I would not write any travelouge as enough available already in this forum.

Travel Details:
----------------

Reading in ODO Before the trip: 12570 KM

Start from Bangalore: 2nd July at 5:15PM

Break at A2B just before Krishnagiri: to refuel both the tanks (tummy too).

After an excellent munching we started off to Salem.

Road Condition: NH7 - Amazing, dream to ride.

Avg Speed: 90-120KMPH

Top Speed: 150 KMPH

Total Toll Paid:
20 at Attibele
25 at Hosur
48 at KrishnaGiri
47 before Salem

FE: Just before up-hill to Yercaud, FE on the indicator was 18.9KMPL
After reaching the hotel: 17.0 KMPL (thanks to all the ghat)
After reaching Bangalore : 17.7 KMPL (Did some spirited driving back home, else Iam sure could have extracted more from the beast)

All the readings are from the indicator, Iam yet to calculate the actual milage, but looking at the readings Iam sure it should be between 16-16.5 KMPL.

Ride Quality:

Thanks to NH7, it was butter smooth. ANHC did what it's best at, Firm grip, over taking was fun.

Start from Yercaud: 2:30 PM on Sunday, Lunch in Salem (Pride of Salem, after a heavy lunch we started towards Bangalore by 4:00), reached Bangalore by 7:00 PM.

Reading in ODO: 13020KM

Total Trip Distance: 450KM

Nice FE figures Raghu. The pictures are also good.

Did you face any bottom scarping while on speed breakers?

Hi Ram,

Thanks.

Only major scraping I ever had was when it was fully loaded (5 adults and a kid + luggage in the boot) and that too at a badly laid hump (huge).

Most of the time we occupy only front row of the car.

After that never, you need to be slow while clearing the hump.

Cheers
Raghu

Hey Raghu,
Those are nice pics. My son 2 years now was shouting "onna chitty" when I showed those pics. He can recognize ANHC from any angle. He loved those pics as much as I did. 13K is a lot of miles on the odo Raghu. Way to go mate! Have a good time with the beauty.

Hi Raghu,
happy to know that you are enjoying the car.The fuel efficiency should be around 16 for the trip. You are right ANHC shows its real colour in the highway.

Top speed 150km/h .How did the behave at that speed?

Thanks Aravind, Yes, I finish one trip and get more admired by the ride quality and plan another.

Iam getting more inclined to think for a diesel, But Iam sure ripping would drop down once honeymoon is over.

Ha ha ha, same here with my 2years old daughter, thanks Jayanth. Though I did more miles on Santro, I never had such a great feeling on road, this car is a pure delight. Makes me constantly think of taking it on to highway.

Mevtec, +1 it should probably be 16, would confirm once I refill. It was frimly gripped on to the road. Breaking, ABS are boon in ANHC it gives more command to take it to extremes.

Nice pics. A colleague and I had been to Yercaud in 2008. Didn't know it was that close(<500 kms) to Bangalore.

You seem to be having a blast with your ANHC. Its great to see highway driving feedback on ANHC whenever one of you guys post your travelogues.

I am longing to do one myself.

Paint Protection and Swirls Removal Done!!!

Scratches from my last Hyderabad trip were constantly hunting me to get them fixed. I cross checked with SA in Dakshin and to my luck said can be fixed as it's not deep. But there are few that can only be reduced and I need to live with it.

Was looking for a good 3M care detailing center, did some checks with Jaggu.
Finally search ended a special thanks for Jayanth who posted details about SKB AUTO CARE.

SKB Autocare (SKB AUTO CARE)
Contact Person: Mukunda @ 9845326688

Fixed an appointment for last Sunday, his arrival time kept changing from 6:30 AM, till 11:30 when he finally turned up.

. Applied rubbing compound (3M)
. Buffed the applied area
. Applied sealant
. Buffed entire surface.
. Applied Liquid Wax and then buffed the entire area (not sure which product has been used, he said it's 3M and comes only in a big container, so they only carry in small bottles).

One more round of waxing after 6 months would be applied for free of cost.

Verdict:

Full Length wave disappeared.

I liked their approach and would for sure propose him. Car looks much brighter now, my 2 years old daughter saw it was constantly asking what they were doing to her car.

I told it's s shower and a makeup, she was happy to see her star shining afterwards.

Took snaps from my mobile, would get better ones.

During a water wash On Saturday, before her makeover
