I am picking up my new XUV W7 AT next week. I need advice on the OE tyre Bridgestone Duellers HT, how good is it?. Should I exchange for Geolander or LTX force or Scorpions?. I am getting a good exchange rate of RS 8,000/- for the OE tyres.

Bridgestone is excellent , do retain it, you will gain nothing from swapping it for anything else.

You can instead spend the money on a nice set of alloys .

Do you have any photo of the same?

I am planning to book my W7 MT in a day or two. I would love to upgrade the steel rims to alloys.

@Kosfactor, can you please find out the cost of the alloys and share it for reference. I got a quote for Rs 27,000/- for 4 alloys here in Chennai.

Good one, go for it. Make sure to use a nice looking set of lug nuts of suitable profile, preferably one that works with the existing wheel spanner.

It did cost around the same here plus additional for lug nuts etc.

Re: Mahindra XUV500 : Tyre & wheel upgrade thread

Hello Guys,
My XUV - W8 2012 model has done 1,21,000 kms and is up for tyre replacement. I changed the tyres around 67,000 km. I am looking for a cheaper option as I might change the Car maybe in next 7-8 months.
I came across Maxxis Bravo Series AT-771 235/65 R17 95H Tubeless Car Tyre on amazon for Rs. 8883/- per piece, so I want to know from the guru's here whether it is a good option to go ahead with or NOT?. And if not than what other options should I look for?

Go for it, they are the best offroad tyres you can buy. I had them on my gold gen for two years. Great set of tyres.

Thanks for your quick response buddy. I'll just go ahead with these in that case. Looking forward to a summer trip with friends to Himachal.

Re: Mahindra XUV500 : Tyre & wheel upgrade thread

Hi Everyone, I wanted to keep the tyre noise (pun!) alive on this extensive XUV thread!

So my W8 (2014) is completing 115k kms in a 4.5 years. In the duration, my history of tyre changes has been:

1. OEM Apollo Apterra HP - 0/10 rating by me. Changed at 33500 kms after a Sikkim Trip
2. Pirelli Scorpion ATR - 8/10 rating by me. Changed at 83500 kms. Reason for change was not the tread but the fact that the rubber had become extremely hard and the car was jumping around more than it needed to. In these 50k kms, there were multiple trips to Goa and an extensive road trip to Lahaul Spiti
3. Current - Yokohama Geolander AT-S G015 - The "New Gen" Yokos that provided a perfect balance between off/soft roading and pliant tarmac manners. I have been super happy for the last 30k+ kms but sadly have not tried their prowess in any Himalayan territory. I am planning a Leh-Ladakh trip in them and post those 8-10ks, I think they will be due for replacement. I give these tyres 9.5/10 in terms of NVH, road manners, exceptional grip and comfort

Now my hunt for the next replacement begins. I have shortlisted the following:

1. Same Geos - Hey why fix what aint broken?
2.Good Year Wrangler AT - Indian rubber (hence cheaper), excellent global reviews. The same tech could translate to a good experience for the local product too
3. Continental Cross Contact AT - In one phrase - the meanest looking rubber out there. Known to be harder than others but grip really well. Did I mention how good they look?

Whilst I have a good 3-4 months to replace my tyres, would like to hear any experiences/photos on XUVs shod with cross contact AT and wrangler AT. Do share your thoughts!

Re: Mahindra XUV500 : Tyre & wheel upgrade thread

My 2012 W8 with almost 120 K on the ODO due for the second set of tyre replacement. While I only had Bridgestone Duelers who have been doing the duty over the last 120K with the first set going almost till 70K, I thought of looking around for alternatives to try out.

I have the list shortlisted to

1. Michelin LTX Force : 12,500
2. Yokohama Geolander GO55: 11,250
3. Bridgestone Dueler: 12,900

The car is primarily driven by my Dad, and most of the usage is on the tarmac, and pretty decent roads so far. But if asked to balance, it would be around 80% good tarmac and 20% rest.

If any tyre could reduce the way car reads patches on the road would be excellent.

Looking forward to thoughts/opinions/suggestions.

Try Pirelli Scorpion Verde or Mitchelin Latitude Sport 3 (LTX force will be more all terrain)

!
My Terrano is currently shodded with these. Brilliant brilliant tyre. I have already done 80k+on the set and I am sure these would last me another 3-4k kms easily. No of punctures can be counted on the fingers of one hand.

PS: I will be taking delivery of my W7 soon, based on what read here asked the dealership for a piece with Bridgestone.
