No, saw one in Rajasthan. Isn't it amazing how so many interesting cars came to India?

My point being, this vehicle could not have been built under a license since the absence of the trademark grille. A company that has been granted a license to build a Jeep (trademark) would also have the right to use the seven slat grille... much the same as Mahindra had some years ago.

Although I did manage to dig up a name Keohwa and the model seems to be M-5GA2, they were infact licensed to build Jeeps, but probably only other models as they had some models with seven slat grilles. However the M-5GA2 had the grille rotated for legal reasons it is presumed.

The Keohwa company is now part of Ssangyong Motors

More information can be found here - Jeeps in Korea on The CJ3B Page & KEOHWA

PS. Just thought of giving some constructive criticism, did mean to offend anyone. If I did, then I apologize.

Willys CJ3B 1966 OK condition - need some suggestions

There's a Willy CJ3B 1966 for sale here in Bangalore - it has an older engine (not international) with a MM540 gearbox. It's pretty noisy and there is some steering play also one of the engine mounts has come off so the engine vibrates quite a bit.

If I do pick it up than which engine would be the recommended transplant?
a) Would an OM616 engine (trax) fit into the bay?
b) Does anyone have an idea of the cost of a Toyota engine? Availability?c) Is fitting a 4WD (mahindra) transfer case an expensive option?
d) An MM540 engine (Peugeot I assume) is available with a local mechanic for 16k - is this a good option?

Thanks a ton for your help in advance!
