Hey, Found This low bonnet Willys on the road today, its been converted to RHD, which i think is not too difficult to revert to LHD, Its up for sale, how much would be a correct price, I assume its diesel. And what are its flaws??

JayD,
the chassis looks like a ford (gpw) to me..
the pintle hook also looks original, but cant be sure unless closeup pics are seen.
some pics of the rear toolboxes and under the bonnet would be
more helpful.
the grille is original...
the windscreen frame looks like one from a CJ3A
and the willys script on the bonnet and tailgate are completely wrong..
still, pick it up if the price is decent..
(maybe the experts will step in whip me if im wrong)

cheers

Even i thought the rear boot door and the script was wrong for this model, But there is a willys script on the bonnet too, is this original?

JayD,
I meant the rear tailgate is incorrect, as in, there should be
no tailgate on the WWII willys mb/ ford gpw's...
there used to be willys and ford script on the very first jeeps
on the left bottom of the rear panels, but that is another story.
branding was not allowed by the US war department and they vanished.
the reappeared on the civilian jeep on the bonnet sides and the tailgate, namely, the CJ2a onwards..

cant be sure about the authenticity of the willys script on the bonnet
solely from the picture posted, but it should not be there on a WWII jeep..

cheers

JayD chettAn JayD chettAn, what a great find you took the trouble of finding for lil ol' me!!

Sure do let me know the price details! Nanni chettAn!

Anyways, the MSX regn. (madras) would mean it is from the late 50s if I got it right?

Behram Bhai, i thought Cyrus has informed you already. Was looking forward to your invaluable inputs and help for the restoration project. Whenever you are in Bombay, please let me know, id love you to accompany me to see the progress and give tips and pointers to my man too first hand.
My Jeep restoration thread is as under, please go through, Khanak and Behrambhai;
(BTW which red one are you talking about?)

Sure man but its at the Garage being restored. will take a month more, I presume.

On the MB ish looking jeep posted by JayD, I will add my observations to Gotzuk's;
It is a RHD and all MBs were only HDs. But a lot of MBs were converted to RHDs and sadly, dieselised too.
Secondly the MBs as far as i think (i may be wrong) never had tailgates as pointed out by Gotzuk. and all tail gates which did come in later models wee the drop down types and not the hinged door type as is in this jeep. In any case the Willys tab in the tailgate looks like a cut and paste job.
Another observation is that if it is an MB or even a CJ-3A the windscreen should be split.
Too many changes in this one.
JayD, did you check if it has an original engine too?

Just for comparison you can see my very original '42 Ford GPW in the following link;
Jeep Thrills India » Content » Jeepers & their Jeeps » Srivardhan & his Ford GPW
It may answer lot of questions about a WW2 'low bonnet Jeeps'.

the split windscreen came till the CJ-2A, AFAIK, the CJ-3A had a single, non split windscreen frame with central cutout for ventilation.
Cheers
