Awesome jeeps!! I have always been fantasized with these machines and desired to own one sometime. Willys low bonnet has always been my favorite. That MM550 is a real macho machine I am loving it. I have a DP 540 (which now gives me a substitute pleasure of a willys low bonnet) I should say you guys are crazy, I never thought one can be so creative in an army jeep into a real adventure machine, i am inspired to mod my jeep as you guys do. Thanks All the best, Keep rocking!!

What is that monogram just below the windscreen for. I have seen a similar one on the grille of a Land Cruiser somewhere on this forum.

Do tell us more on this.

A skeletal LHD that I see rotting outside a garage in Secunderabad. 'seems to be an early low-bonnet.

'would be interested in taking this and doing a chip foose job on it!

But I wonder what the price would be, if at all it is for sale...and also if it has papers!

isnt this an MM550 - like the ones the Army use? well, it looks identical except for the extra fittings. even the tyres are standard army mm550 type as far as I can see.

Hi Shyam,

From the looks of it, the jeep seems to be a WW2 jeep. But to be sure you will have to have a closer look at the chassis..

The Tub looks to be in decent shape from a distance, if is got an engine in it, you must go for it!

Shyam

If that Jeep is reasonably priced buy it you will have a lot of un in it.

YC BAL

Please do post pics of the restoration. Regarding the pearl white colour its definitely not original. These jeeps only look good in olive or the US marine blue or in Desert Tan colors.

Also in my opinion restoring a WW2 Jeep is extremely complicated as they came with so many accessories and stuff that people have removed / discarded that it turns into a nightmare.

Try finding a First Aid Kit or for that matter a starter push pedal. Also things like the correct dynamo tensioning bracket with the quick release for disconnecting the drive in case of driving underwater are really impossible to find these days.

Most people are not aware of what came OE on these Jeeps and end up with something that is far from original.

Does your jeep have the auto fire extinguisher that fits on the inside of the bonnet pointed at the carb?

I have got the Owners manual for Low bonnet Willys left hand drive Jeep (says willy's overland inc.) I think that is of early one that were sold by Mahindra.
