I have Viofo A119 in front and 70mai at rear.

Viofo A119 - GPS unit works as mount and power is connected to it, camera can be removed by slightly moving up.

70mai - Need to remove the power connection, bolt and nut.

Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

Why can't car manufacturers put 2 piddly USB charging points in the front IRVM and next to the rear (high mounted) stop light? That would save the wiring chaos, fuse tapping, splicing wires etc!

Skoda has started with this excellent integration with the incoming Octavia IV:

Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

Wow, you've got two separate dash-cams there. Probably the first time a car owner has done so. Nexon has a cigarette style power socket right at the rear (above the seats), so this can effectively be used to power the rear cam exclusively (and so, I'm considering this set up)

That is a very unusual request.

I have never been asked to remove the dashcam and I have been getting my vehicle serviced in Bangalore for the last 9 years.

Did they give you a reason why they want the dashcam to be removed?

I mean that is none of their business.

This is the second time in the forum, that I am again highlighting the fact that having a Dash cam is a good thing, but one needs to learn a few basics like:[list][*]First thing to do, when you are stuck into something wrong is - don't tell the other party about dash cam![*]If you are in a VIP / VVIP locality and encounter the cops over any issue like wrong turn, red light jump etc - never show the smartness of telling them that the dash cam has recorded everything
.
Delhi cops have never harassed me for having a out of state registration . I have been caught about 4 times and each time I am to blame. I always have an issue with the way I was caught, but legally my position has always been untenable. I have never thought of the VIP areas of Delhi being sensitive to dash cams..

IMO, dashcam is there as a safeguard in case of collateral damages.(legal cases, huge pile ups , insurance backups etc). An insurance agent will surely try to use it to his advantage if supplied . Its not of much use for traffic challans or during minor altercations common during each contact event on Indian roads.

there is a video on team bhp in which the guy who posted the video was actually at fault(his wife was the driver, during an highway incident). The community pointed this out . In such a case, the dash cam will be a glorious self goal. Best case would be to get a review on Teambhp for expert opinion

I think, they might have learnt from this (Video: Fake service done on my Baleno RS by Mandovi Motors!).

But many reviews complained that the power supply to the cam is through this GPS and over time the coupling between GPS and cam becomes loose. This makes the cam rattle. Can you please share your experience with 70 mai?

Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

The latest Xiaomi 70mai Rearview Mirror Cam is now full screen. I've heard the screen is superb (Resolution is now higher than 1080P). Does this rear dashcam (supports full HD rear cam as well) make sense? Is anybody using this?

It's a welcome addition as specifications wise USB C can deliver 5 amps at 20V. Current USB ports in most cars are unable to keep up with the power demand of today's dual and triple channel cameras, and even some single channel models. single channel 4K cameras nowadays consume 1.5A or more.

You'll still need to hardwire for Parking Mode with most cameras.

Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

Hii guys, after using the Transcend drivepro 220 for the last few years on the xuv, had purchased the mount from transcend and fixed on the Jazz and was carrying camera one car to another depending on the drive for the day.

http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/car-en...ml#post4700697

Now thinking of picking up a seperate Dashcam in the upcoming Amazon Sale.

Singled it out to the below from 70 mai, though haven't decided regards pro or non pro variant.

https://www.amazon.in/dp/B07Q85SLCS/?coliid=IIAZLIIMEKYLM&colid=K1GG8NPGAVYR&psc=1&ref _=lv_ov_lig_dp_it

Any suggestions/ feedback would be welcome.

Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

I have been using the "70mai Smart Dash Cam Pro" for more than a year now.

I haven't faced any issues so far.

The build quality is top-notch.

The video quality is very good both in day and night.

The voice commands work as advertised.

Mine is without the GPS module though.

It's a VFM product in my opinion.

Which are the 4K cameras out there? I've come across 1080P, mostly. And 2K (If you can cal it that), on ROVE. I have also shortlisted 70mai and will buy during the Prime Sale

Google...

Not recommended though as all current models overheat and shutdown in Parking Mode and even in regular use.

If night quality is a priority, another reason to stay away.
