Suggestions Invited -

Requirement - 32" LCD
Room Size - 12X12
Viewing Distance - 8 Feet
No particular required for Full HD
Most of the TV viewing is going to be on Satellite TV

Models -
Samsung 4 Series - 28500
Samsung 5 Series - 29500
Sony -31000
Panasonic - 25500
Philips - 28000
Toshiba - 24000
LG - 26500

All prices are negotiable (I take it as 1K more discount).
As per the dealer "the LCD screens are in most of the LCD TV is made by LG/Samsung"
0% finance scheme on offer. No processing fees (except Sony)
I know I am not putting the exact model numbers but the models are not the most outdated ones and neither the most advanced in the category.
Let me know which brands to ignore outright.
Reliability is a big factor than the features but also it should be VFM.
What are your suggestions?

Kindly suggest which is better.

I want to change my AKAI SUMO 29" TV 4 yrs old with a 32" inch LCD.

Models shortlisted are :

1) Panasonic FULL HD : TH - L32 S10. ( It comes with 3 yrs warranty ; IPS Alhpa panel and is Full HD. Mrp is 42k, dealer agreed for 38k and in exchange of my TV for 33.5k as best price.

2) SONY Full HD KLV 32Ex400. ( Mrp is 42 k. have not negotiated so far.

3) Toshiba 32RV600E. ( Exchange price is 28.5 k. Mrp is 39.5 k, dealer agreed for 34k. But it has only compatibility of 1080 i ( interlaced signal and not 1080 p ( progressive signal).

I am inclined for the Panasonic model as want to go for Full HD. Kindly gurus give your valuable suggestions in firming my decision. Also suggest any other good model from Samsung / LG.

At sizes below 42" LCD's are cheaper then Plasma, go for Full HD.

One thing negative about C10 is that it does not have the reflective filter and is prone to reflections.....

Guys,

I have a Panasonic 32" LCD TV model TX-32LX800C which In had purchased in Feb 2009. Just wanted to know whether Panasonic has discontinued this model since I keep reading C8,C10, S8 etc in the posts in this thread.
This model actually was the one to offer 100Hz IPS alpha panel and is HD ready. Pls let me know if I would get a right price if I go in for an exchange since I am planning to go in for Panasonic 42" Plasma.

Was considering a flat panel for quite some time. Had almost decided to buy a Panasonic 42C10. Then in May LG & Panasonic released newer models and had to do a bit of research again. Finally bought the LG 50PK550 plasma which is a Full HD model and value for money compared to Panasonic. Got it delivered last Saturday.

Samsung Plasma / Lcd

Checked Samsung Plasma and LCD.

-- Plasma --> 42" --> HD ready --> C430 model --> 44,000 (Can come down)

-- LCD --> 32" --> Full HD --> 50 Hz --> 39,000 (Can come down)
--> 100 Hz --> 45,000 (Can come down)
--> C530 / C630 / C650 model.

Any pros / Cons on these models guys ??

================================================== =

My primary source is TATA sky. Some times DVD movie from Sony normal DVD player. But i will replace it with a Blue-Ray player after some time.

1) So is the FUll HD model is really necessary ??
2) Is HD ready can be suffecient for my type use ?
3) Is Plasma dead earlier then LCD? (A dealer told me that)

Kindly suggest...

Thanx

@KALINGA,
1. For the sizes till 42" you won't notice any difference between a Full HD or a HD Ready TV even with 1080p source. So I would suggest that instead of spending money on Full HD 32", you go for a 42" HD ready TV. You'll never repent your decision.
2. Same as above
3. Nope, Plasmas and LCD's have almost same self life. So you don't need to worry about that. The salesman is just trying to push an LCD.

To answer your previous questions about Home Theaters for 15-17k with floor-standars, I would it'll be a very tough to find anything remotely good for that pricec. A pair of decent floor-standers itself will cost you atleast 20-25k. Of-course there are cheap ones available, but they are just cheap and not good at all. Better you wait and gather some more funds and buy things one by one. Say, an AVR unit first and use your current speakers as stopgap measure till you have the funds to get the speakers. If you still wants to get a full system atleast go for a Onkyo HTiB like S3300/3200 etc. I think you may find similar HTiB's from Yamaha/Denon also. Just take care to get one which takes HDMI input and have HDMI output.

Suggestions for a new T.V .

Hi everyone ,
Its time for me upgrade the television at home . The earlier one was a pretty old one(Philips) . So , now i want the upgrade to be a far better one . Size should be like alright not that big . The visual quality and sound offered by the T.V should be good . I also heard of 3D televisions (saw SONY showing their 3d technology at Ambience Mall ,Gurgaon but couldn't take out time to see them as i was busy). Are they any good ? As i do not possess much knowledge regarding the best T.Vs what the market has to offer i ask you all to please help me in deciding what would be the best buy and the best technology .
Thanks .

I suggest you have a look at LG scarlet series or LG Jazz series which is VFM. I've recently got 42 incher from LG for 58k. It has 200 Hz true motion sensor and fantastic contrast ratio. It has USB which can play back DIVx (not mkv). You can also look at Samsung C series. It is a little expensive but worth the try.
