When 29 USD was the declared discounted price, they did adhere to it and charged us INR 2000, considering the historical conversion rate at INR 64 for 1 USD. So it should be safe to assume , when the discount is over, they would charge us at USD 49 + GST. Prior to the discounts in Jan 2018, the battery would cost USD 79, which is why the stores must be giving their old rates, but the point to be considered is that the price itself has been reduced from USD 79 to USD 49.

If on a budget and one must absolutely have the iPhone, it would be a prudent decision to choose an older model, rather than owning the latest . I plan to keep my 6s for around 4 years( another year or so to go) and then pass it on to my daughter,so I can see full value for my money.

This is quite normal. I don't think the health % is that accurate. My month old iPhone is also showing 99% now.

Yes this is normal, 12 months and it is showing 93% lol. Batteries do lose life based on charge cycles and usage.

Mine shows 87% and my 7 is almost 12 months old. 2 months back it showed 93%
Lots of video streaming has happened in the last 2 months and it shows!

Re: The iPhone Thread

Isn't 80-odd percent battery health a good number? I understand a lot of people probably think it's pretty poor because iPhones have never been stellar on battery backup to begin with, and losing 15-20% seems a huge difference.

The better half uses an SE, and the battery is at 93% after a year of heavy usage. What I find impressive is the standby performance. My Android phone loses a few (sometimes several) percent overnight, while I've noticed her phone barely lose a percent in the same time, with a similar set of apps vying for the juice. Not an apples to apples comparison, pun incidental, but impressive nonetheless.

IPhones have always had great stand by performance due to better synergy between software and hardware.

My 6s at 79% after 3 years wasn't good. Towards the end, if the phone is at 100% charge at 9.30 am, it would go kaput by 4 pm. With a battery change, it goes on till 9.30-10 pm with the same usage. So in real usage terms, a 20% degradation made a lot of difference.

Same case with me. At 81% of battery health, the battery hardly used to last till evening that too without much usage during the day. This meant that during travel I always had to depend on a powerbank or charger. Apple did not replace it under extended warranty saying it needs to go less than 80%. It is now 2.5 years and it hasnt reduced further. Was planning to get the battery replaced and use the phone for sometime, but ended up breaking the screen and replacing the phone itself.

Re: The iPhone Thread

Can I control an iphone remotely?

My dad uses iphone 6 (I think). I am using android. He has some issues that needs sorting. It appears to be something simple but I can't travel all the way for this yet. Is there an app that might allow me to remotely access and possibly do some trouble-shooting etc?

If need be, I don't mind getting an iphone for that purpose.

Thanks.

Re: The iPhone Thread

Just bought the new XR 128 GB. Bought my phone in HK for 6900 HKD - the same model in India would have cost me a whopping INR 82k. That's a saving of almost 18k I think.

Thanks. I was hoping the iphone will have some native apps for the same. Tried TV between windows (laptop) and the android. A bit sluggish, some latency, still functional. Will try that on the iOS.

The closest alternative I can think of is, ask him to make a whatsapp video call from another phone and maneuver him into making the changes on the iPhone.
