You must be mistaken. It is not available for that price anywhere. 41 - 42k is what it is selling for.

33.5 may be for a lightly used piece.

Guys, it is better to get someone to buy if from, if possible, Singapore. As I mentioned earlier, the prices here have dropped and it now goes for...

So, that 980$ * 33 (~conv. rate) - ~32k INR!

And strike three!

Dropped the phone the third time yesterday afternoon when 'making a point' with the phone in my hand. It went thru the usual bouncing from one hand to another (why didn't I just hold on!!!) till it dropped to the floor.

Anyway, damage = stylus came out. The cover took the entire shock. Body did not even get a dot. Am going to get one more of that cover when coming back to India. Its a God send!

EDIT: And am still able to access the storage card. No recurrence of that issue also. Phew!

HappyWheels,

I was gonna ask You if You have installed blacklist/whitelist application (as in the mobile discussion thread). But more important, do you have apps for SMS filtering (similar to email filters).

I have another requirement too:
I need a setting, where I would hear ringtones only if called from Contacts and all other numbers go silent. Is it possible to create new profiles in HD and play around with it.

Ho Rocky,

I have not installed any of that black/white list application. And my SMS are not too high that I need to filter then. But as with any windows mobile, since all the SMS from a specific number and my response to that is stored as a conversation, I find it very convenient to use and back track if required.

And for the settings, I am not sure if multiple profiles can be created. And for the ringtones, need to check it out.

Thanks HW.

I suppose You are using the threaded-view then, sure it helps.
I have always had trouble with incoming sms's, and found some peace after installing a blacklist app on my ROKR E6. I am still finding ways to implement an SMS filter!

btw if are in a mood to experiment, can You do the following:
1) Obtain a silent mp3 file (or a blank file)
2) Edit a profile and assign the above as ringtone
3) Create a group including all the contacts (or some) and assign the group a normal ringtone
4) Save and activate the profile
5) Call from a number not included in the group and see if it goes silent

am still awaiting a GO from my wifey, to buy a HD.

The HD cost me another phone!

Wifey wanted a touch screen phone for herself. Got her a LG Cookie, a simple touch screen mobile, which even my kid know how to use it now. Both are happy! Phew!

Continuing the dicussion here from : http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/techni...er-car-55.html

LancerRit & NetFreakBombay:

Did not get into the trouble of backing up and restoring, since I have too many applications which has been installed in the SD card and could not risk doing all this and them not working. So took the shorter route and reinstalled and re-formated the phone and card.

The SD was reformated for and 2KB cluster, and now the total space that has been taken up by the whole Google tiles (with zoom level 12, 13, 14 & 15 for South India and 16 & 17 for Bangalore) is just ~700MB!

Expected some other issue to crop up, but none. And the performance is also good.

Tried to use "Flash Format" 10 day trial to do this, but strangely, for FAT32, it showed on 32KB cluster size, so did the formating using windows format tool (sticking the card into a card reader and into the laptop).

Test the GMaps application and it is working just great!

Thanks for the help guys!

Thanks Rocky!

Will give it a try; first let the developer say that it is a stabilized version.

My current focus is on Winterface ( Winterface - Next Generation Mobile Shell for your Windows Mobile device ). Not able to figure out where the hell the "Buy" button is! Seems like those guys are not interested in selling!

And an update on the memory card: Still face intermittent cases of the card getting "lost". Looks more like a software bug than anything, since I am able to replicate it by following a specific pattern. Watching out in the HTC forum for any update. Mails to support has them asking me to bring the phone down for physical check and they are not believing it to be a software bug!

@HW, for some reason Winterface makes the HD looks iPhon'ish, hate it for that.
I think it still retails for about $20 for a user license.

I havent seen anything constructive on the memory card issue though. Did You post it in xda-developers?

HappyWheels,
Sorry for hijacking Your thread.

My New Friend - HTC TD2

I have been drooling at the Touch HD for so long and with wifey not happy with the ~40k price range, I was waiting forever for the prices to drop. I was also fascinated by the Touch Diamond2 which boasts almost similar features as the HD.

Saturday turned out to be lucky when wifey, after noticing the TD2 prices on the net, wanted to check-out the device in person. We went to UniverCell, Marathahalli to checkout the TD2 but ended up with checking-out the Nokia N97 - Wifey is a Nokia fan, I absolutely hate Symbian devices.

Yesterday was my lucky day, Wifey gifted me the TD2. It costed her 30k inclusive of 1 yr Theft and Damage Insurance.

With the limited time I had to test, here is a quick roundup:
Pros
The TD2 boasts minimalistic styling, thats to my taste.
TouchFlo3D is awesome.
Well featured with minimal buttons and almost no protrusions.
Back panel flat and unlike TD1 (which i hate).

Cons
The casing is a finger print magnet
Lack of customisable buttons
Zoom bar can zoom to only 1:1 ratio
loudspeaker at 100% volume, a bit distorted

To Test
GPS, GPS and GPS

Q
Do I need to buy India Maps to test GPS?
Can someone tell me a quick way to test it?
