Re: The Windows Phone Thread

I am in Australia currently and got a chance to use a Lumia 930. One word; FANTASTIC. the display and the camera are super fantastic. I work with a Telecom company and one of my customers upgraded from iPhone 5s to Lumia 930 (instead of the new iPhone 6). When i asked the reason, "screen and camera clarity". I was surprised to hear that. I use a Lumia 720 myself and now 930 is on the radar

I got a chance to play around with the phone for a while and i must say that the form factor is pretty awesome. The 20MP Pureview camera is in a league of its own.

The only downside as I see it is the NO SD CARD :( It comes with 32GB build in memory but still. Thats just my view. Over all the phone is very good and anyone looking to spending ~30k for a phone, i would strongly advise you to definitely consider it.

Regards,

Re: The Windows Phone Thread

some apps are crashing a lot on my 720 which is running on 8.1 Dev Preview. Facebook app has become pathetic as it opens for couple of seconds then crashes and closes again. Anyone else facing this issue?

I faced this issue in early Aug, on the Dev Preview. But by mid-Aug a Dev Preview update came out that greatly improved the situation, and I think one more after that. A few days ago, I got the Cyan update also.

Now my 720 is back to the original stability. Currently, my OS version is 8.10.14176.243.

I've heard that for some people, doing a reset helped matters.

Now Nokia is history. RIP Nokia. My first four of five mobiles were all Nokias.

Regards,
It has been launched in India at Rs 38990, the pricing is way off.
I would have lapped it up had it been at 25K and round about.

In the USA it is branded as LUMIA ICON. Wonderful phone bu terrible price

Re: The Windows Phone Thread

my Lumia 820 is running on 8.1 Dev Preview , just after updating the phone on Monday, it fell on the beach in shallow water for about 5 seconds, Had PDair casing , quickly removed the battery ,sim & sd card and put it in a plastic bag of rice,
After 36 hours removed it from the rice bag, exposed it to sun and connected the battery and its working fine.
the headphone jack opening was covered with tape , so water must have entered thru the speaker slot or the usb charging slot, Nokia build quality is good

Re: The Windows Phone Thread

I have a question about the 530. It's a dual SIM phone. If only one SIM is used, then is the User Interaction more difficult than using a single SIM phone - i.e. for doing stuff, do you have everytime chose which SIM etc. Or can you insert 1 SIM, set it as the default and forget it - i.e. after doing this will it will behave like a single SIM Phone?

Ofcourse it behaves like a single Sim Phone. I don't think you need to select SIM everytime.

Re: Android to Lumia?

How can we import SMS and Whatsapp message history from an android phone into lumia 1320? The SIM is same, but the old SMS is not showing up in lumia and whatsapp does NOT have a option of restoring the old messages.

Is there a work around to restore whatsapp messages? I have conserved the old 8GB microSD card from the android phone.

Please advise.

Use Transfer My Data app for SMS. Unfortunately WhatsApp messages cannot be transferred to WP 8.1 from Android.

Cheers!

Re: The Windows Phone Thread

Happy to see the way Microsoft is aggressively pushing updates in the 8.1. Before in the 7.8 version of Windows, they never bothered to update just anything.

Re: The Windows Phone Thread

Guys, the Nokia Lumia 1020 is offered at 19,999/-.

How good is the deal? I've added it to cart, but having second thoughts.

I think it's a great deal. You are getting it at a fat discount. Even the Lumia 520 at 4,999 is a very good deal. I haven't seen it anywhere less than 6000 anywhere (at most places, it's even more than that).

Re: The Windows Phone Thread

hey,
Screen of my beautiful Lumia 720 (cyan) got broke into pieces and Nokia customer care is asking for Rs 7500 for replacement ( Digitizer + LCD ), that is half of phone's prize, even more than that?

Now I know for sure that LCD is fine and only digitizer needs replacement, and is available on ebay for Rs 1800. but I am not able to find a guy who can replace it for me.

Any one went through this situation? Any leads ? Should I try a DIY?
