Look at the Klipsch R-41PM and the R15-PM. Dali Zensors , Edifiers, KEF LSX to name a few.

Forget the Sony boom.

Am I new to this world of Music, as I haven't heard about any of the brands you listed above

Seems I need to go through entire thread to increase my acoustic vocab.

They are a gazillion options frankly. IMO, its better if the post starter looks at brands that can be auditioned and have a wider availability.

You are suggesting studio monitors and thats a different category to venture into.

I'm not using it as a studio monitor. For that we use different stuff. This is my regular music set up

The post starter is looking for improved sound for movies too.

He would need very large or hybrid studio monitors to ensure he is in the sweet spot. Since you use then, you would be aware that most regular studio monitors are near field with a narrow sweet spot because of their intended use. Then there is the frequency response etc etc of the studio monitors. I have personally used the Yamaha HS8 and the Neumann kH 120's for music listening. But for movies and TV watching you need an equalizer.

If you are specifically talking about the Gibbon 5, from what I have read , with their pronounced lower frequency and muddy top end, they would not be an ideal choice for movie watching.

Somehow my 4yr kid is happy to go with the LG Boom Box. I am planning to buy LG XBOOM OL100, It has lot of functions like karaoke, party accelerator, DJ mixing, party lights etc to name a few.

Watched below video on YouTube though this is not the latest one OL100 which 2000W vs the OK99@1800W in the video. He is super excited for this system.

Thanks for enlightening have saved the brands names and speaker models for later upgrade. Maybe due to lock down most of them are out of stock as of now so can't check the prices online.

If you watch a fair bit of movies, get a 5.1. Go for wireless surrounds if you cant run cables to the back. They will still need power.

Denon has a HEOS receiver that supports Heos speakers as wireless surrounds. The front 3 speakers can be wired. So can the subwoofer.

Depending on the space available you can go for wall mount, or bookshelf mains and a sub.

You could wrap all this up around 1.5 quite easily.

Re: The Home Theater thread

LG XBOOM OL100 has arrived today. The sound is amazing and the features are very nice almost everything can be controlled by Phone app which is the best. The bass is ground shaking and clarity is also fine. This will be quite wonderful in on-house parties. This can be connected to TV as well.

Re: The Home Theater thread

Hello Friends,
I have a Samsung digital TV with optical sound output, the stock TV speakers are no good and do not have enough volume and clarity. So I am looking for a cheaper solution that will give me just the right volume and clarity. What would be best.

Another thing that I have noticed is – different content have different volumes and then in movies as well – dialogues are feeble but the background score goes way higher. Is there any thing called auto sound leveler. I seriously need that, especially for the you tube channels that I have subscribed.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: The Home Theater thread

Guys, I have a JBL SB400 Soundbar which I absolutely LOVE. Problem = threw away its remote control because it had stopped working. Used to increase the volume from the switch on top of the soundbar. Now, that button (on the soundbar) has stopped working. Guess its due to age. My S9 phone doesn't have an IR blaster so I can't use any of the remote control apps.

What to do? How to increase the volume? Any aftermarket remote control I can buy? I see one in the States, but nothing here.

Any other solutions? Thanks in advance!

Re: The Home Theater thread

For TV you get the Bose Solo5. That's a unit which is made for solely for television. The optical out goes into this and sound is greatly accentuated. If you want vocal to be up you can select, or if you choose background to be higher - that's also there. I bought it in the UAE for Rs.12,000 (3-4 years back). Seems to be expensive here. The different settings are giving me a steady sound output, regardless of the channels. Universal remote takes over your TV remote too. Do look it up. https://www.amazon.in/Bose-Solo-Soun.../dp/B01AWLPUAG

Once my set top box remote stopped working, that time I came to know about a shop in the local radio market where every kind of remotes are available. I went there with broken remote and purchased replica/replacement.

It was almost similar looking remote with few additional fake buttons which probably may be working on another set top box model, kind of universal solution for few models.

The remote worked flawlessly on my TV with all the functions.

I am sure there must be similar shops in every city/town, try to find one in your locality. You can even carry your soundbar there to test.
