Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

Anyone noticed battery improvement after the last Maps update? My Note 2 battery has improved at least by 30-40% after the update. I used to get around 1.5 days with full time 3G, 3 email accounts in push mode and around 2-2.5hrs of screen on time. Location services are also set to ON. After the update, I am getting 2 days + with the same usage pattern.

1) How is the battery backup on moderate use of 3G, Video and GPS. I mean about 45 minutes of 3G voice, 2 hours of 3G browsing and 3 hours of GPS usage with 3G data(Gmap).
2) How is the heat dissipation of phone with continuous 3G usage
3) Though I browsed several websites for the SAR value, I couldn't find it anywhere. Got any info on that?
4) How do you rate the build quality w.r.t Samsungs (Galaxy S)

Thanks in advance for your reply
I am a satisfied customer of Gionee D1. It ticks all my reqs to the core.

My 2G runs for 9 hrs then 30 mins calling and 2 hrs WiFi. The battery lasts me 1.5 Days. I run GPS for 60 mins but then its on charger during that time so cannot count it.

It gets fairly heated when I play games for 30 mins. But does not heat up much during WiFi usage.

SAR written on battery is 0.6 for head and 1.01 for body

Never used Samsung but overall I liked the built quality. Does not feel cheap in hands. The screen is just too good. Its a super Amoled 720 display.

Awesome phone. Simply loving every bit of it.
Now gotta get some protection for this beauty. Thanks Topgear for all the pointers
Got the nexus too and a total VFM, no regret waiting for this.
Regarding the protection, try getting the Nexus Bumper case (original accessory), though a little pricey ($20) its worth it, got mine with the phone at no extra charge.
Alternatively you can go for this http://www.dbrand.com/. They provide vinyl covers for protecting the back glass, simply awesome fit and finish, yet to get it fixed on my phone, will do it shortly and update.

Yet to take any decent or meaningful pictures from the nexus actually none sofar, just got the phone a few days back. Though I can tell you the picture quality in outdoors/daylight is pretty decent, no comparison to the iphones quality, but doable. Also the front facing camera is quite good for being a 1.3MP. Will update shortly with pictures.

You may refer here for some of the pictures shoot by nexus.

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

Gave my Galaxy S Duos to the service centre for repairs. The jobsheet also mentions some sensor malfunction, and that could most likely be the cause.

I am amazed at the diagnostic ability of the staff. The girl who took my phone held it in her hand for a full minute before declaring the phone was good, after which I tried to hold my patience and explained to her she hadn't tested it at all. With the screen timeout set to five minutes, she would never know what the problem was. So I had to set the screen timeout to 15 seconds and voila! There the problem was.

Anyways, the phone should be back within a couple of days, so let's wait with fingers crossed.

So when the ph screen saver gets activated, it becomes un-responsive after that ?

I am having the problem I just mentioned. I have tried a factory reset, but didnt help. Battery is also discharging at the rate of 1% every 2-3 minutes

My friend is looking forward to buy an used XOLO Q800 which he saw at a mobile store near his home and he wants to know if the phone in question has a downgraded chipset or not.

Not the screensaver, but the screen timeout. It's the standard battery saving feature where the screen first dims and then becomes blank if the phone is left unused for a few moments (or minutes - as per the settings). In my case once the display goes blank, it never comes back on. The phone has to be reset.

I haven't yet encountered battery drain.

Approximately same time. I think you too need to visit the Samsung A.S.S. Be ready with a photocopy of your proof of purchase or warranty card.

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

This seems like the most active Tech thread, so posting here.

My phone charger went bust a week back, looking for a charger, I found an innovative charger by Croma (4-way charger), can charge two devices at once,In home, in car, or by using AA batteries. It is working pretty well till now. i also made a small Youtube Video, check it out here.

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

No one talking about the good-old Motorola Defy these days on this thread.
Has everyone stopped using theirs (it is now quite an old model now)?
My phone completed two years and I got some new stuff for it.
1. A new battery (supposedly original)
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

2. A battery charger
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

In the process, my CM 10.1 started giving me problems. Had to wipe data for the first time.
Now, after re-installing the apps, the phone is very 'fluidic' [Verna like? ]

The new battery dock allows me to charge one battery while my other battery is in my phone. So, I can charge two batteries as well if need be with the default charger and the battery dock.

I am not sure if I can notice improvement in the battery backup time, since I have been playing around a lot. I will need a few days to comment on the battery performance.

But, so far so good.
