Guys, is the Sony Ericsson W8 a good buy for it's price? It costs 10.5k plus and comes with Android Eclair. Can it be upgraded to Froyo?

  5. Like Neo in the matrix, just race through all the force closes and backup the sms.
  6. Reflash
  7. Reinstall titanium backup
  8. Now just reinstall the apps and the SMS via the sms backup & restore application.
assuming TB has backed up SMS in your case.

If not, hasta la vista baby!!

EDIT: Yes - my first near-bricked experience with Cm7 was because I restored ALL Apps + ALL data and stuff immediately hit the fan! It is downright dangerous. My problem was reinstalling the moto media stuff (GB media process kept getting FCed, and then the custom recovery prevented my phone from entering custom recovery at all.

Try ant tek app manager next time. Very similar but yet dissimilar interface and free.

i only wish android came with a standardized PC suite - atleast would've been easy to copy/send SMSes & make backups!!
Zaroorat nahi padi. Titanium had backed up all my SMS, so restoration was fine. The only glitch in the custom ROM (or maybe it was because I restored system+app data) was a stupid FC message every now and then.

So today I removed the custom ROM and installed GB 2.3.4! Quadrant bhai-saab is reporting a score of 1041 () on a fresh phone (i.e. no apps or data on it yet).

P.S. My Phone Explorer can do what PC Suite can. It can store all SMSs in various formats and can restore the way you want.

P.P.S. When I flashed the European GB and the phone booted, it was in Russian! For a minute I was pissed that I'll again have to flash back to Froyo/Custom ROM.

Luckily I navigated to settings and changed the language to English. So essentially it was just a language thingy!

re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

Quick question - When restoring from Titanium - which option is to be selected
1. Restore missing apps + all system data, or
2. Restore all apps with data?

Keep in mind that I'm moving from an official Froyo ROM to an official GB ROM. So no custom ROM jhanjhat here.

I would suggest you only restore, apps + data (2). If any of the apps do not work clear its cache and try.

Don't restore System data when moving to another ROM. Fat chance it will screw up the phone. Only restore the apps + data if you want to .

re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

Please suggest me a screenshot app for my LG Optimus One which runs on android 2.2 froyo.

PS: All my attempts to find a screenshot app in the android market were futile.

Force close error

I flashed the latest 2.3.4 GB update on my Ace and I'm stuck with a stupid Force Close error message.

"The application Software update (process com.wssyncmldm) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again."

I had used Restore all apps+data (but not System data) option in Titanium.

What could be the problem and how do I resolve it?

P.S. Found this answer on a forum. Is it safe to wipe the cache? Will it factory reset my phone / apps?

Turn the phone off and go into recovery mode (press volume up and the center button and then power and hold all down until it enters recovery mode) wipe the cache and try again, if it still doesn't work go back to recovery and do a factory reset.

Accha? that soothes my nerves a little!

What does Dalvik cache wipe do? I'm really attracted to that name and have heard it a lot! And how to wipe battery stats? Via the recovery mode or thru some apk?
