re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

The UK firmware that is just launched is PDA:KF3 / PHONE:KE7 / CSC:KD1
One can upgrade using ODIN. However don't think there would be any major changes.

re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

Placed an order last Saturday and got the piece today. Looks like it is worth the Rs 250 I transferrred online, going by initial impressions. Will update later on this.

Meantime, I request Defy users to suggest a good screen guard. The one at Croma seems too costly at Rs 300.

This is an old firmware. There is already an updated firmware that is available in UK fixing the pink spot, heating and low battery charge problem(supposedly).

Hope we get it soon.

If it is even 90% as stable as the CM7 nightly I had - its worth keeping!

...
So, just wipe cache/data & install rom + language pack. Correct? or some other steps required?

10 hours of daytime usage, that involves some browsing sitting inside a boring training room today and my desire's battery is at 70%.

I've been getting excellent battery life after I installed cm7. You can't ask for more from a power hungry desire.

KF3 version are launched all over. UK version is same as the Indian one with just minor tweaks in respect to connection setting.

After the upgrade havn't notice any heating issues. Used the phone for 2 hours including download, HD gaming, browing found no heating issues. Looks like it resolved to some extent. I din't find any pink spot with the camera. Battery charge seems to be better than before.

Zenster @ Glad it helped.

One can always use different firmware for different nation and roll back to INU KF3 if there is any issue using ODIN.

Yes, wipe data, clear all caches install zip, language pack, battery step fix. It's goodlooking however found it buggy and a lot unstable than CM7. I would eventually go back to CM7. Good to try though.

Installed and working but everything is in Chinese. Must have installed the language pack some dozen times over and still every damn thing is in chinese.

Any way out or going back to CM7 the only way out now.

PS: what is the battery step fix? didn't see it in instructions. Where to download it from??

Select English in settings. Reboot and then clear cache, delvic, battery cache (not data).Check the xda developer MIUI page.

Going back to cm7, same process. Clear data cache etc.

I had installed miui two times so far. I never saw a chinese ui when it booted up for the first time; yes I installed the english language pack along with the rom before even booting it for the first time.

Copy both the rom zip and the english lang. pack zip to your SD card, flash the rom first and without quitting CWM (or any other recovery program), flash the language pack too, and boot it up. You will see English UI.

I couldn't resist myself from coming back to CM7 both times

re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

yaar,

seems u didnt follow instructions. the thread i linked is for MIUI.us - pure english - nothing else.
MIUI.us UNITED WORLDWIDE - ROM Downloads links to http://goo.gl/Iy39a i.e http://roms.miui.us/1.7.1/MIUI.us_um...ipA_Signed.zip

It was english when it installed through and through.

btw, in home screen, you click the menu button, the L, middle icon is settings IIRC. else try whichever icon looks like that.

ps: now take a nandroid backup for safety. now in custom recovery, just click install update from zip and you're done.
