But the catch here is that there is no client for PC, unlike Dropbox.

Not sure about Samsung phones but when I updated my Defy's firmware (2.1 to 2.2.2) using Motorola update tool, all my contacts, SMS & installed apps were as before.. even the call history was intact.

Yes you can. Just connect the SII with PC and if Kies can detect it, it can upgrade it.

The defy developers have not replicated the CM7 magic so far. ICS ROMs are still not really stable - am so itching!

Nice! I'll be waiting for your inputs

Do install the Google Maps 6.3 with navigation enabled for India, if you're into using maps.

Hehe, Klub Class was asking me what I was planning to install. Love CM7 so far. Will update as I go...

The reason why I asked you is that I didn't keep myself updated with the latest custom ROMs for O1. Then, I've access to FOUR LG O1 in my family. So, I'll be flashing different ROMs in each phone in all probability.

Thanks a lot for the leads. I'm now enjoying the navigation feature.

Exactly... I've been waiting for so long! The bad thing about MIUI is there is no centralized place where you get the proper builds and GB & ICS builds are available under the same MIUI version number. So confusing. And I am not sure yet whether it will run on HTC Desire since it is also not mentioned anywhere :( of course MIUI was developed initially for that phone only.

3) Battery life

All the phones we purchased had moderate battery life, averaging about 1.5 days depending on usage. All phones were having data enabled 24/7 for corporate sync. But, in the course of time battery life improved after a calibration and I am currently getting 2 days+ with 24/7 data.
Attachment 893010
Thanks a lot bhp_maniac. I am inclined to go with the NEO V if the only difference between NEO and NEO V is the camera. Coincidentally, my usage is very similar to yours (2 hrs of voice calls + full time corporate sync etc.).
Good to know that the NEO can hold charge for 1.5 days. My wildfire would struggle to take me through the day with data on

Rooting refers to the process of getting administrative rights on your android device. By rooting, we can run applications that requires administrator rights to perform, remove the bloatwares on the phone, overclock the processor, install custom ROMs etc

By default android phones will not give permissions to read/modify some of the important folders/files used by OS. By rooting, you are actually getting root permissions (super user permissions) to all those files. Some android system apps require root access to function properly.

I didn't flash an ICS based ROM, because it is going to render some of the basic stuff in my phone useless.

So flashed MIUI 2.2.24. Some weeks on MIUI before I go back to CM7. It is like on a trip away from home

Kies is torture. Only use it for taking backups.

Go to Sammobile.com. Choose your phone, OS, Asia. Then the India build (KL1). Download the file.

Then just follow the guide on sammobile.com and flash the new firmware using ODIN.

Kies as a software is horrible. I prefer taking complete backups before any upgrade etc. 99% I wont need it. But I would rather not risk it with my data.

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

Didn't want to flash ICS MIUI and wanted a change from CM7, so moved to MIUI GB 2.2.24 yesterday. Theme support is awesome and I am using an ICS theme.
