Post this i am now eagerly waiting for Mid Nov
As per this article, the interiors are more or less the same except a new infotainment system. In which case I wonder if this will be similar to the explorer edition kit which hangs out awkwardly at the bottom of the center console ?

Apart from that the 6th gear should be useful in highways but I seriously wonder why they arent offering cruise control ?

4)much deserved new infotainment (a la zest type)

However what could be amazing is the following :
1)6 speed MT
(i dont see this happening , TATAs are simply too lethargic to bring in a new gearbox , this should have happened at least a couple of years ago.)
2)Price reduction : if this happens, it will make a more compelling proposition

However personally i feel :
An AT STORME or an ARIA or BOTH is on the anvil..
May be the release might not be with the face lift immediately, but in a few months after the face lift launch.

If TML can price the Storme LX close to or below Scorpio LX then its Game ON ! More so as it provides an answer to all the short comings of the Scorp and then only unknown part will be what will be market reaction w.r.t A$$ of TML vis-a-vis the established M&M (I am an existing customer)

Feel the rear space does not really provide for a practical front facing seat fitment and the current two on the side is better for children and luggage both.

The engine update will be welcome though minor. 6 speed gearbox would give it a clear edge over the Scorpio.

The infotainment system similar to the zest or Aria is essential thanks to the new Scorpio. Also controls on the steering and cruise control and ACC would be welcome.

If all the above come through in my books it takes it to the top of the segment as a product. They need to price the top end 4x4 vx 25k above the Scorpio S10 4x4.

Minor exterior changes are not going to be too relevant.

Thats quite unlikely. When I was evaluating the Storme Vs old Scorpio, the Storme Lx was specced similar to the SLE model. Am not sure how the SLE fares against the current nomenclature of the NG Scorpio but you would need to be guided by that and not expect any car with a Lx suffix to be priced the same

re: Scoop: Updated Tata Safari Storme in the offing? EDIT: Now launched

^ Current Equation in NG Scorp is SLE = S6 minus ABS as per my understanding.

Please refer the Prices; All i am asking is around 1 L Price drop
in Ex-showroom (I believe the discounts after bargain was close to this )

Safari Storme
Ex-Showroom BLR - 9.93 L (LX)
On-road BLR - 11.96 L (LX)

NG Scorpio
Ex-Showroom BLR - 8.95 L (LX/S4) // On-Road BLR - 10.82 L (LX/S4)

Ex-Showroom BLR - 10.14 L (S6) // On-Road BLR - 12.58 L (S6)

OT: Tata ARIA Pure LX is priced at 8.95 Ex-showroom BLR (After Discounts)

My Scorpio SLE does have ABS which came factory fitted.

Coming back to Storme, a price correction at this stage will not pull the crowd away from Mahindra showrooms in favour of Storme.

Instead of going the Aria way, different thought processes is the need of the hour. I am fine with the current pricing but then do the much needed corrections [ not the price] as already posted on this thread.

Certain surprise moves like getting the spare back on the rear, DRLs upfront etc will definitely help. The former will not only give it the unique appeal but will also help to manage the extra room for front facing third row.

While a decently integrated central console is a must, the mechanical updates like 6- speed tranny etc are always welcome.

Instead of bringing the price down, I would like to see Storme upgraded to offer more "value for the price" rather.

I meant the same. Earlier SLE used to have ABS but now it's available only from S6+

Of all the features or gadgets, I would love to see Storme shed some weight and become lighter. It surely needs to go on a diet.

And 4WD option in lower variant.

Exactly! Price is NOT the problem. Perception of reliability & service, is.

I hope TATA realises that the Safari Storme is where they can flaunt their prowess (that they can engineer & sell a proper SUV almost as capable & reliable as the Fortuner) & show their confidence by providing a 5 year standard warranty & AMC with the SAME price brackets and heavily advertise it.

This will build consumer confidence in the improved product (thus addressing the perception of ir-reliability) & save the brand from being diluted.

(Speaking from a market perspective) Then on they can rise prices like Toyota did for Innova & Fortuner.

I seriously wish they are a little faster. By mid-2015, the new Scorpio will have firmly established itself and Tata Motors will have its work cut out trying to catch up.

Same thing with the Bolt. Why the damned delay? It should have been launched in the festive season.

I feel, the more than "refreshed" Scorpio that has recently been launched, has made the TATA delay the Storme re-launch and gone back to the drawing board to make additional changes required to take on the Scorpio.

I think TATA never expected MM to carry out such changes to the Scorpio, and that's the reason I see in expected delay in the Storme.

MM has upped the game and now ball is in TATA's court.

re: Scoop: Updated Tata Safari Storme in the offing? EDIT: Now launched

For a change TATA has the opportunity to come in from behind m&m in the safari vs scorpio and Aria vs XUV battle it has always launched the first product and suffered on the price front. This time they need to deliver a better Storme at a VFM price. Their task is cut out but they are too slow.
