re: Next-generation Mahindra Bolero? NAMED: Mahindra TUV300! EDIT: Now launched at Rs. 6.90 lakhs

Looks very promising indeed! As many in the thread have already mentioned, the proportions from these pictures seem to be very close to spot-on. Looks like the team from Mahindra have gone back to the roots of an SUV. Ladder on frame with good proportions, a comparison to the the Jeep Cherokee comes to mind.
Knowing Mahindra, they'll try and load the vehicle to it's gills with equipment on many variant levels. Who Knows! the Bolero might just become a city dweller's SUV and duke it out with the likes of the Ecosport, Duster, etc. Can't wait to see it in the flesh (and hope it doesn't disappoint in the flesh).

re: Next-generation Mahindra Bolero? NAMED: Mahindra TUV300! EDIT: Now launched at Rs. 6.90 lakhs

But is this really a new Bolero?

Mahindra departing so far away from the current Bolero's proven, tested and successful ladder frame, no modern gimmikry formula, seems a little stretch. With their Scorpio redo, they stayed close to the original formula. And further, by the looks of it this seem more modern, meaning a different target customer set.

May be this will coexist, don't think Mahindra would do this to a product that is still selling well.

Any further updates on the new Bolero? Someone is considering one & I am asking him to wait, but if the wait is gonna stretch for ~ 6 months, then he might rather go for the current one. But, if the launch is due, he will wait.

And no, he is not willing to look at any other car/suv.

re: Next-generation Mahindra Bolero? NAMED: Mahindra TUV300! EDIT: Now launched at Rs. 6.90 lakhs

Mahindra & Mahindra is likely to call it's new-gen Bolero as the TUV300, according to Motor Octane. It will also spawn a slightly bigger, more-loaded sibling, called the TUV500.

Quote:
Mahindra is likely to call its new Bolero as TUV300 as this will be the compact SUV, which will be under 4-metres. This new SUV will be targeting the rural car market and it is codenamed as U301.

The Mahindra TUV300 is based on a new ladder-on-frame platform and will come with one more sibling too, which will called as the TUV500. This new compact SUV will be manufactured at Mahindra's Chakan plant and will exported too.

The Mahindra TUV300 has compact dimensions and has rugged styling. The front will somewhat remind you of the Jeep-grille and at the rear, there is a wheel mounted on the tailgate. The Mahindra TUV300 will be a seven-seater, with the third row of seats being jump seats.

re: Next-generation Mahindra Bolero? NAMED: Mahindra TUV300! EDIT: Now launched at Rs. 6.90 lakhs

It is reported that the U301 is unable to match the fuel efficiency of the Quanto, against which it is benchmarked. In an attempt to fix the problem, Mahindra's engineers are altering the car's gear ratios, the turbo and intercooler plumbing and tweaking the ECU.

re: Next-generation Mahindra Bolero? NAMED: Mahindra TUV300! EDIT: Now launched at Rs. 6.90 lakhs

Why do they insist on making a 7 seater out of a sub 4m car? Or is that over-enthusiastic reporting by motoroctane?

Hope the only thing that they benchmark against the Quanto is the fuel efficiency.

Any news on the all-new Bolero? I am waiting for this vehicle before finalizing my next purchase but I don't know how long I have to wait. The showroom folks don't have a clue.

+1

Its been nearly a month and there have been no major updates to this thread. Have been insisting one of my close relative to wait till the new one is released and then he can decide.

Any inputs would be appreciated.

Thanks

Fresh set of spy pics, courtesy Motorbeam.

The car certainly looks well-proportioned, has excellent street presence, and looks like it's loaded with quite a few gizmos. Could be an excellent and worthy Bolero-successor.

The upcoming Mahindra U301's headlamps & front grille have been snapped from up close by an ICB reader.

The front looks aggressive and imposing, with the grille dominating the front looks. Headlamps look effective and non-fussy.

Headlight shape of the Bolero inspired by Land Rover/Range Rover vehicles?

Better than getting inspired by some random animal eh?

Well, I feel this will look really good. Hope they don't screw up the neat styling by adding chrome here there and everywhere.

Hope the Quanto/canto/cantdo team is not involved in developing this vehicle. And let us not set the bar so high for the Mahindra team by setting Land/Range Rover as their benchmark.

From the proportions, it certainly appears to be handiwork of the same team

The existing bolero looks a lot better as far as proportions are concerned (and, I am not referring to the XL variant).
