The rear is continued as the same as the current-gen for the Thai market, but for the Indian version, we will be getting the rear from the current-gen Grace sedan.

re: Honda working on City Facelift. EDIT: Launched at Rs 8.5 lakhs

One of the reasons why I choose SVMT petrol over VMT is the ugly alloys on VMT/VXMT. These new alloys are looking great

On the other hand Honda is increasing the prices of City every 6 months.

Hyderabad: SVMT Petrol (ex-showroom price)
December, 2014 - Rs 8.5 lakhs
January, 2017 - Rs 9.68 lakhs

In just 2 years, the ex-showroom price increased Rs 1.2 lakhs without any additional features
I wonder how much they hike with this mid-cycle upgrade.

Honda should release one version with curtain airbags . I sold my 10 year old corolla and started searching for a new car. I found that only Jetta offers 6 airbags as standard in all variants. Even corolla top end does not offer 6 airbags. When will automobile manufacturers consider safety for Indian consumers as its first priority . C and D segment vehicle manufacturers should offer at least one model per variant with all the safety features included. Hats off to Ford, VW and Hyundai for their commitment towards safety

Hi Sarkar,

I don't think they even did basic things to hide what they were doing. Ad shot in a crowded place and we can clearly see people around. Also, considering the possibility of having the shoot done indoors and the advent of technology, they could have shot the ad discreetly if desired. These days, even the companies want such kind of publicity. It creates anxiety just like this case.

This does not seem to be the top end model as it does not have an integrated rear spoiler. With the kind of hike that is being speculated, Honda has to add additional features (Projector Headlamps, Six Airbags, Android Auto and Apple Carplay) to keep the car relevant for all kind of buyers.

Same as the current-gen City.

re: Honda working on City Facelift. EDIT: Launched at Rs 8.5 lakhs

Surely car looks more wider than previous version due to changes in front bumper and grill. interior looks same , disappointing to see no Projector head lamps and prices going north every few month is a concern with average diesel engine . Its not going to help much Honda India to get new customers .

From this facelift, I envy only the headlamp unit with DRLs and the new alloys. I hope, we can get the headlamp unit as an upgrade for current City.

Some noticeable changes are HONDA badge has been removed from the rear bootlid. CITY badge now moves to left side and iVtec/iDtec moves up from the bottom of the bootlid. Also, it seems that stop light on the boot available only on specific varients.

One thing I'd like to highlight though, if you don't mind.

As a former advertiser, and as a part of the automotive industry now, this kind of information/picture leak bodes ill for the Ad agency as well as the OEM.

These guys go to massive lengths just to ensure that these leaks don't happen. Especially true for a company like Honda which has a lot riding on this facelift, considering the severe beating that its getting from the Ciaz.

When such things happen, they lose impact, and it impacts them badly. Typically, someone in the ad-agency will be pulled up for this leak, and for no fault of his/her might even lose their job! Unfortunately, it is generally the lowest common denominator.

I don't think that a scoop is worth all that.

Just something to ponder on.
I agree. Apart from fuelling speculation and curiosity it does nothing else. Every automotive website wants to get their hands on scoops first; just like the breaking news we see on TV channels. The day this scoop was posted on Team BHP by RavenAvi, the same images started circulating in almost all other automotive websites. It is as if no one wants to be left behind to report the sneak peak information. Automotive manufacturers are also helpless as inevitably someone will capture pictures of the upcoming offerings while they are being tested on the streets or transported somewhere. I feel they even selectively leak information to keep the buzz going. Whether a positive or negative buzz is created before the product launch will in some way impact sales as well. This is a phenomenon which cannot be stopped in this age of paparazzi.

re: Honda working on City Facelift. EDIT: Launched at Rs 8.5 lakhs

Only easily distinguishable change in the facelift is literally only the face and for good certainly. I never liked the earlier design, it was too edgy or tacky for my liking (coming from someone who owns XUV500 ) . This one looks more mature and lot more refined. But I am wondering how is Honda going to justify a price increase for a product that is already overpriced by min 50K to 1 lac in my view.
