The grill and needles in instrument cluster -
Same headlights and tail lamps carried over in lower models. Maruti has cleverly given a new face through a new bumper and grille. The hood and headlights shape remain same.
Ciaz should have been given the nice steering wheel from Dzire. The MID from Baleno is welcome. Wonder if Maruti will offer Telescopic steering adjustment or limit it to tilt adjustment only!!
God knows when will Maruti stop using those cheap stalks jutting out from Instrument Panel and design new power window switches!!

Looks good, will sell well, irrespective of what a meagre 0.5% so called enthusiasts think or feel. As someone earlier said, "better car" has different meaning with different people.

Maruti has been intelligent enough to build products that fit into "better car" definition of the majority of car buyers. Now don't come screaming "kitna deiti hei crowd". The overrated so called enthusiast 1.5/1.6 liter cars provide almost identical fuel efficiency in real life.

Ciaz is bound to go back to the best selling C2 sedan in a couple of months, whether you like it or not.

I find 220kmph marking on the odo a bit overoptimistic though. But well, a more powerful engine, low coefficient of drag and light weight, 100+ bhp can be fun.

Safe design but grill too narrow to impose presence. The grill design is very similar to Tata cars specially Nexon (Is it only me who think so)

The Maruti Ciaz Facelift. EDIT: Now launched at ₹ 8.19 lakhs-161580.jpg

However, the real change is under the hood. We need to see how it fares to 1.5 ivtec. We should be happy if it is even close to 1.5 ivtec in terms of overall characteristics.

After looking at the variants, it is safe to say Maruti 1.5 diesel engine is not even close for a debut. Any idea when it will be coming?

Well, we might have to wait till we see it in flesh to judge the looks. But, through these pics and the 'head-on' shot I think it looks quirky to say the least as compared to the old one which was simple and suave.

I like how this is shaping up. The front end looks new yet relatable. The interiors pretty much look the same with a little thrown here and there. This will sell no doubt. But IMO, Maruti could have done more.

The front looks good, simple yet stylish. However, design is always subjective.

They could have done much better with the interiors. Hopefully, the quality of plastics used are not flimsy like the new swift.

Pricing of the new Ciaz will be a key player. Although before launch itself it must have beaten the Yaris still if they wish to recapture the sedan segment then the pricing needs to be less than the City and Verna.

Warranty with 4 years as standard with an option of one year extension would be ideal. An AMC package with the launch will be icing in the cake and the last rights for Skoda Rapid & VW Vento.

Safety features like 6 airbags as standard with ABS and EVD would be great.

Let's see what it offers but somehow I feel they will be more judicious in their pricing and offering than the inconsiderate Toyota's.

re: The Maruti Ciaz Facelift. EDIT: Now launched at ₹ 8.19 lakhs

The front bumper's lower half looks good.
But the upper half just kills the looks IMO.
Especially the chrome lining on top with rounded edge terminating before reaching the headlamp cluster should look like an eyesore in flesh.

The front bumper design is neither sharp and edgy like Rapid or City, nor is it smooth and fluidic like the older gen car. Looks too haphazard and I wonder why a manufacturer who gets most things right for the customer, just can't design a good bumper for it's arguably most premium offering on it's own. In fact, the most aesthetically designed part of this card would be the rear section with tail-lights which is copied from the City.

It has been discussed to death in this forum, that neither Honda nor Maruti copied either of them. Both cars were under wraps at the same time.

Considering that this is mid-life facelift, I really doubt Maruti would be making any changes to steering column design as it involves crash revalidation and packaging layout change in IP area. This may be added in the next gen Ciaz.

However, I really doubt many customers would be using telescopic feature, given that not many use the tilt feature itself.

This may take another quarter century.

Infact, the new Ciaz tail lights look similar to what is used in many modified 4th generation City cars. That should appeal to some people -

re: The Maruti Ciaz Facelift. EDIT: Now launched at ₹ 8.19 lakhs

I like the car in white for sure. A long time back, I had a TD of the Ciaz 1.3 MJD and actually liked the car. The interiors are decent, good space and a decent, well tuned engine for urban commutes. Might run out of breath with full load highway drives but those who don't have a combo of these, would find this car practical.

Backed by the Maruti A$$. That alone can be a deal breaker for many. This may not Trump many other cars in the segment, but a good price / feature combo actually works for such a crowd, especially when they still swear by the brand.

2018 Maruti Ciaz Alpha to get 6 airbags. The other variants will get 2 airbags as standard, along with ABS.

The Alpha trim will also get a huge multi information display, different than other variants.

LED lights and DRLs in the headlight are only for Alpha variant. Alpha and Delta both get rain sensing wipers.

Wow, if that's true then it'll indeed be a very welcome addition to it.

What happened to Zeta? Either the information shared by the enthusiast is wrong or there are some missing links.

If Alpha indeed comes with 6 airbags, I sincerely hope that it comes to S-Cross soon enough. Time to hold our booking till launch of Ciaz.
