Re: Maruti to finally bring Jimny to India?

I think its the Maruti that's holding Suzuki back from launching Jimny.

Hard to believe that it is not yet launched here as India is the largest & most profitable market for Suzuki.

I'm sure something is seriously wrong at Maruti's side by seeing their poor planning.

Endless waiting by enthusiasts here. Maruti won't listen to us enthusiast's voice.

Speculated to be the 3 door version in LWB format.

It's a very interesting scenario when it comes to the parent company and its Indian arm. When it comes to global products like Jimny, Swift etc, the Indian arm has very little say and is expected to sell the package as made. Suzuki being a relatively smaller player globally does not have the mindset required of a market leader as we Indians deem it to be. Instead Suzuki balances it out between what the Indian arm demands and what it can actually deliver with a firm view on bottom line. To Suzuki, that is the sole motive that drives their moves. In fact in Japan, they sell houses etc as well for profits.
In such a scenario, the Jimny may not be the profit driver it needs as viewed by Suzuki. A Wagon-R (souped up) and coupled with the current fad of SUV looking non sense (read Stingray) may earn them more profits. Hence we have not got the Jimny till date.
But now there is a growing realisation within the group that higher priced vehicles can earn them more profits and hence Jimny 5 Door has been slated for India. This in no way means that Suzuki would abandon low cost high sales profit drivers like Alto, Wagon-R etc.

Re: Maruti to finally bring Jimny to India?

Time will tell when Maruti wakes up from deep slumber. After Gypsy, nothing came from Maruti stable. Tons of Mahindra Thar is being sold and now even Force Gurkha joined the race. What's stopping Maruti to bring in Jimny quickly baffles everyone.

New spyshots of the LWB variant. Rumours say it's a 5 door version.

Going by the placement of the B pillar, It looks like a 3 door version. There is not much place for the rear door between the B pillar and the rear wheel arch.

One of the most anticipated SUVs from Maruti stable, the Jimny has been finally greenlighted for an India launch.

Maruti will position the Jimny as cheekier but practical alternative to the Thar. The company has also begun manufacturing right-hand drive versions of the three-door Jimny for export, and looking at the success of the Thar, it’s likely that this model too will be launched alongside the five-door Jimny.

Same here, can't agree more with you. I think some people have waited for that Jimny launch, got frustrated, then bought another car and now are in the plans of upgrading too. What remains constant? A Jimny launch in the horizon. Well, that horizon looks like a never arriving one. Frankly I am fed up of these scoops and leaks. Tell me there is one in a showroom near me, I will TD it but I won't buy it. I have moved on.

Re: Maruti to finally bring Jimny to India?

I still remember asking a Maruti fellow about prospects of a Jimny launch in India. That was way back in Auto Expo 2008. He instead asked me look at the Vitara at display. They did not even have the Jimny in that expo let alone thinking about launching it in India.

Re: Maruti to finally bring Jimny to India?

Lol, if suddenly Jimney and Swift sports are launched, team-bhp's post count would drop in half. Decade old yearning threads will stop, and suddenly many will lose their purpose in life! To top it off, majority of the readers of those threads will still buy Spresso or WagonR, reminiscing how great the first gen Baleno was!

Not sure why MSIL holding Jimny to launch in India. It's a very good product and current trend of SUV's will largely benefit them. If priced properly, they can easily get great volumes. Hope they will bring this here very soon now.

It is almost Jan 2022. One day one of their 'scoops' would definitely come true.
