Look properly, it is definitely a 5 door. Check some high resolution pictures of the latest LWB camouflaged Jimny testing in Europe. You can make out a extra door and a door handle.
But I must say then, the camouflage is working really well.

Re: Maruti to finally bring Jimny to India?

Renderings of the upcoming 5 door Jimny/Gypsy!

- Premiere is planned for this year and should win a new engine

- The introduction of this variant with more space will not be accompanied by a change, even if it is already time to renew the design of the utility. So your external style will be basically the same.

- The change will be seen on the side. In addition to winning rear doors, which will maintain a very square shape, Suzuki will put a third window which will be in the same row as the trunk.

- The lengthening of the wheelbase should lead to an increase for both the luggage compartment and the second row of seats. Will not be too big and will still give priority to the legroom for the seats.

- Will have 2 engines on offer. in addition to the 1.5 aspirated 108 hp, early speculation was about a turbo option, but some are already beginning to comment on an electrified variant

- All indications are that the Suzuki Jimny four-door in the coming months, first in Japan and the rest of Asia - the brand is very strong in India

- The launch in other markets would take place throughout 2023

Wow!
I wonder whenever they launch, if it will be a good idea for me to just go and book one on the launch day. The EV version probably.
Anyway fingers crossed and let formal official launch announcement happen first.
Its just a lovable little thing this Jimny.
Until launch I ll content myself looking at my little scale models…
(Just look at these and eat our hearts out)

Re: Maruti to finally bring Jimny to India?

What is the rim size of the international model? I am thinking I will sell my Gypsy and swap my expensive Rims with new tyres on to the new Jimny and buy the cheaper OEM rims to replace on the Gypsy when selling.

Edit: Found the specs:
– Center Bore: 108.1 mm
– PCD: 5x139.7 (5x5.5)
195/80R15 being the stock for 15" rims if not using 16" rims.
I wonder if my 225/70/R15 tyres will fit without rubbing ...

The owner generally gets these down from Dubai to drive on Mumbai roads for a period of time. He had imported the GR Yaris and Lotus Elise earlier.

Ha! The used car gypsy market may finally see a downward trend in prices! Gypsy is currently a sellers market, with good examples, hard to come by and changing hands at handsome rates.

Looks like a mid variant. Aftermarket fogs, headunit, no auto climate control etc.

Re: Maruti to finally bring Jimny to India?

The Jimny India launch has probably been as awaited/delayed as Duke Nukem 4ever! Guess it won't happen till it happens. The interiors seem dated, the dash designers seem to have fought over whether it should be pristine old-school, or totally modern, and decided to meet each other in the middle, with the result being a confused clutter of instruments with poor visibility. The comically large exclamation mark in one of the pictures looks hilarious. The cluttered dash seems to even reduce visibility somewhat, unless one is a very tall driver. Looks like a nightmare.

To each his own. I feel it is a good mix of retro and modern styling.

Love it. Especially the manual variant has even more of a retro vibe with that lovely gear lever boot cover.

True that; I'd perhaps been happier if it had been totally minimalist, but yes, in terms of utility, an infotainment system with android auto/apple carplay has become an absolute must, which too is acceptable. I do wish they'd tried to place it better though. Are you a tall person, Dicky? I'm pretty short (165 cm), and I'm positive that it's going to affect my visibility, and it would be much worse for my wife. I'm curious though, to see what it feels like. I might take a test ride one of these days, as a Suzuki dealership is not very far from me.

Re: Maruti to finally bring Jimny to India?

I have driven this extensively here in Japan and I can vouch for its visibility and ease of usage. I am only 5ft 8 inch in height. So should not be an issue for most. It's the photo angle that skews things more. The Japanese are mostly even shorter than me and they do not have any negative feedback.
