Yes, bad clutch == transmission losses which transpire to lesser efficiency and hence lower economy. Changing your clutch should increase the mileage.

Maruti Alto 800cc (now sold) :
City (40% AC): 13 to 14 kmpl
Highway (50% AC): 19 to 20 kmpl

Fiat Punto 1.3 MJD:
City (100% AC): 16 to 18 kmpl
Highway (100% AC): 20 to 22 kmpl

Highway (very spirited driving with 100% AC and doing 120, 140 kmph constantly on long stretches): 17 to 18 kmpl

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

Dzire--I actually kept a small note book in my car and maintained a record of kms, no of litres etc. After a 8 month period I calulated the average and I seemed to be getting about 16.5kmpl in the city with A.C and about 17.5-18 kmpl in the highways.
The other car that we have an Alto is driven by my wife, who is actually learning to drive and hence spends most of the time in 2nd gear, so I'm not convinced that I should be checking the mileage right now!

Quite right. I asked my friends and collegues own's i10 and their reply is 10~11kmpl. Wonder how i10 is selling like hot cakes and no one cribs about mileage.

My Ford Ikon 1.6, regular city runs give around 10-11 kmpl, and the maximum I have seen on highway run is 14.5 kmpl. This is with AC always on.

Wagon-R 2004 - City with 100% AC: 11-12 Kmpl Highway (prior to May 2009): 15-16 kmpl with 100%AC

Ford Fiesta 1.4Tdci (May 2009) City: 15 - 16 kmpl with 100% AC
Highway (100% AC): Whenever iam driving between 80-90 km/hr i get a decent average of 19- 20 kmpl but above 100 km/hr average goes down to 16-17 kmpl.

That's poor mileage... considering my own figures of 14-15 kmpl with 100% AC in Delhi/ NCR, with minimal driving on the Ring-Road & highways with an October 2003 Xing. In fact on highways (while driving to home town & holidays) I have managed 21 on a couple of occasions, & 19 kmpl when keeping my car under 100 kmph & 17 kmpl under some hard driving conditions.
I guess you could amongst the majority of the TBHP-ians who think that Hyundai cars can't manage good mileage at the end of your ownership.

for being harsh, but I believe your figures could be better by 10% atleast.

You shouldn't check the mileage of anything she drives, even after she learns.

Not if you know what's good for you.

Actually she seems to be fairly interested in automobiles and has a few tricks up her sleeve{ that she learnt from Maruti driving school} and keeps asking me a lot of questions now and then. And she voluntarily wanted team-bhp stickers! {Yes, people, if you see a rather slow Alto with team-bhp stickers in bangalore, then thats my wife!}

Honda Accord Incredible Average !

Hi All,

As it so happens, i tank-up to full (Full as in till the fuel is really visible) after each 200 KM or so but this time , did it a little early @ 107 KM ODO as had to move out of town next morning. Guess how much fuel did it take till the tank-top ? 7.25 Litres which means, it was giving me 14.75 Avg

I just Did a Delhi-Jaipur-Delhi same day and the Average including the Engine running during Jams @ Behror & Kotputli was about 12.2 . We went all the way @ about speed of 100 and AC Was switched on Always .

I really dont know what caused this but the only recent change i've done was, changed the NGK Plugs Installed as i do after each 5K KM itself.

Anyone else ever got such incredible Average with Accord in recent Past ?

FYI, This is 2006 Dec. 2.4 VTIL MT Model.

Re: Honda Accord Incredible Average !

Surprises can come in many ways!

On a recent trip from Bangalore,I got a tank full of unleaded normal petrol, along with a bottle of Injector cleaner.

I was like when the display calculated 5.7l to every 100Kms. That's like 17.5 Km/L. The range was fluctuating between as 850-900 on a tank full. I was in a steady 80-100 with climate control on. Yet to see what was the exact figure once I go for a tank full again, and calculate via trip computer.

The car is a Octavis vrs.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

Swift Diesel - 38500 km run

In the city with 100 % AC, 185/70/R14s and a lot of stop starts I get 16 kmpl. Driven Sedately but turbocharged to 4 thousand shifts on empty stretches

On the highway with 120 kmph with short 140 kmph bursts I get around 18 to 18.5 at max with 100% AC.
