3-3.5 lakh at best. 2nd owner cars don't have that much resale value and rest can be determined by car's condition on inspection .

Someone bought a City V AT with 45k on the odo two years back for 4.25 lakhs from a first owner.
Considering you are talking about manual variant and buying from the second owner, I would place the value around 3 lakhs. Depending on the car condition, you can go plus-minus 10% but anything above that would be too much premium.

I am looking at a 2018 Honda jazz CVT with 18000 km mileage. First owner and the car is in good condition but I am not sure if the mileage is "real". I plan to inspect the service record and car condition carefully before even considering it. Quoted price is around 7.5 lacs.

The tires are at 50% tread so a bit surprised. Anything else that I should look at?

You haven't mentioned if you met the owner or whether the car was with a dealer. If you met the real owner (same guy as the one mentioned in the RC book) chances of odometer tampering are very low. You can check service records with A.S.S and figure it out.

18000 kms is barely anything for a tyre. A well-made and well-maintained one will easily cross 50k before it requires a replacement. You can check the make of the tyre and year stamped on it and verify that with the spare wheel and you get the true picture.

The car is through Carwale and at a local dealer. The tires in display pics are from Goodyear Assurance. I will check if are OEM and supplied by Honda.

Do tires have YEAR stamped on them? Is the spare tire usually the same OEM as main tires?

The odometer could be fudged. Check with authorised service center for history. All tyres will be of the same brand and tread pattern. There could be a variation in size and aspect ratio between the spare and the main wheels. You could have a steel spare wheel while the mains are alloys.

Yes, the manufactured month and year are usually stamped in code. Just check if all the tyres have the same code. If 1 or 2 differ, chances of odometer tampering would be higher.

Buying a used car that is on corporate Lease

Dear All,

Need your inputs on a scenario where I am looking to buy a used March 2021car. The car is currently owned by a gentleman but is on a lease from his employer. The RC mentions the company name as owner. Below are the questions i need your insights on:-
1) Can the transfer happen to me directly from the lease company i.e from current corporate owner to me . The current owner says that once we pay and foreclose the deal, lease company (Kotak in this case) will issue the required documents which will enable transfer to any name in RTO. Is this correct?
2) How should such a deal be structured (if everything else checks out), i.e how should the payment be structured to safeguard interests of both parties. The option currently presented to me is to pay directly to lease company the outstanding dues and take delivery. The remaining amount to be paid once the owner delivers the documents from lease company (within 15 days).
3) Is the the transfer from a leased car(corporate owner) to individual hassle free or if any additional charges beyond the normal transfer fee(around inr 500 within same state) to be paid ?

Any other things I should be aware of ?
