The car is due for a service and I thought I will try clutch bleeding at that time as I could not spend much time today.

Thanks a lot Jaggu. Your help is really appreciated. You know more than the Maruti guys. Perhaps, the team-bhpians can call you Mr. VDi

70k Service completed

Hi Guys,

Just got my car after 70k service and had the EGR cleaning done. Car feels much smoother and acceleration has improved a lot, however I now hear a distinct hiss as soon as the turbo kicks in, not sure what this new sound is. Else the car feels great, will post the details of servicing soon.

Anshu, how much did the EGR cleaning cost you ?

How long does it take ?

And, how can you be sure that they actually did it ?

Edit: Asking because my 70k service will happen on the weekend

Rs. 1200 Labor and some 25 Rs of Gaskets, will post the exact details later as the bill is in the car.

I got my car on the 2nd Day

Hmm, well I don't give my car to MASS now I give it to a authorized service center(Owned by a friends friend) and he is pretty trustworthy. He even invited me to have a look at the extremely dirty EGR valve, but work didnt permit me to go. So guess he has done the job, however I cant be 100% sure that the EGR is actually cleaned.

Thanks Anshu. MASS also charges 1200 + 60 (gaskets) for the job.

Anything else that was done ? Total bill ?

Exact oil quantity with oil filter change is 3.1 Liter. Only oil means 2.9 Liter.

So many egr cleaning posts, still the darn thing has been evading me. Feedback card sent to RNS has resulted in a BIG NOTHING!

After long highway run, I noticed that service reminder light remain on. But goes away on run. Had this issue after service. That time an error logged possibly due to not disconnecting battery connection while cleaning air filter(thats what SA told). what would be the issue?

Yup most common issue with service light, connect the scanner check if its air map error then you can confirm the same and delete it off.

^^ Thats the most common reason of the service light getting displayed. So the SA could be right.

No harm in getting it checked though

Jaggu: Me too got the EGR cleaning done. Details coming later tonight (if the IPL match is not interesting )

But what is the rationale behind disconnecting battery connection while cleaning air filter, since it is always done when the engine is switched off? In fact I had myself cleaned the air filter several times and never faced such an issue!

After seeing the posts, myself confused whether I stated it clearly.

I had the service light issue weeks back after the service and that time it was cleared using a scanner. The error logged that time was something related to air filter.

But today again it started glowing. This I observed while on the stop and go on the middle of highway run.(it turns off once engine ignited)

Anyway planning to have it scanner checked.

EGR... what is it?

Sorry guys, I did go back a few pages, but could not find an explanation

My swift coming up to 3rd year service, only 14,000 km but lives in a very, very dirty environment. AC performance has been noticeably poor this summer so far.

I'm going to get my dents and scratches done this time (at last; most of them have been waiting two years) and a respray.

This is going to be an expensive service visit!

If you restart the engine with the connector off/loose error is thrown up.

Don't bother with EGR cleaning too early (Km's) for your car. Try an AC clean up and servicing should restore the juice. Dent and painting, if you don't have access to independent specialist, do check out your dealer's work before sign up.
