Look at your owners manual. It should mention replace period for clutch.

70K life for a clutch on a diesel engine is good life.

I know someone who busted a clutch driving a brand new Swift from the showroom to home.

Guys
Today completed 30000kms in my swift. What all should be done at 30k service.

Had first major accident in 17 years of driving. Hit a biker from behind at NH neAR trivandrum. The guy landed on his head .Fortunately he was wearing helmet. Barring some cuts and bruises he was ok. Now I understand the importance of wearing helmets. Guys please wear hemets when you go riding..

The metal rod protruding from the bike has made a deep cut on the bonnet and bumpers.. Can it be repaired or should the bonnet replaced?

Alsothe car is losing its power for a few seconds when in 4th and 5th gear. This is simikar to what many ddis owners have experienced. What should I tell the SA as I am going for 30K service soon.I am attaching the pics of the dent.
cheers
Dilip

Dilip; it would be easier to get it replaced as the are you got hit is a corner and even has a hole.
Check air filter.

I am driving a LDi from today love the power delivery but not happy with built quality and ride comfort.

The car is due for 50K service.Everything is fine and normal. The clutch is doing fine too, never been overhauled/serviced till date.Should I replace it in this service?
Off Late, I hear noise(as if something is loose) from front left suspension/front end, on uneven roads or some potholes. But on bigger potholes, I don't get to hear that noise, taking this into consideration, I feel the shock absorber might not be the culprit. What should I check or get checked from MASS.

@ Dilip you are lucky, you should get off with 5-8k bill for the accident damage. Ask them to follow the regular service schedule and change the air filters if they are more than 10k kms old. Ensure you fill 3.1 liter oil with oil filter change.

Ask them to check the accelerator pedal sensor for the bogging down issue.

@Gill: ask them to check all the rubber bushes and maybe a good idea to do a strut overhaul job, they replace the bushes, re grease everything and put it back.

^^ Gill: That must be the steering damper noise. Get it tightened, you will get some relief but no permanent cure unfortunately/

@Eddy, I will check the damper, but I highly doubt it's not damper sound. I am use to damper sound(tak-tak), It doesn't go away.
@jaggu who much shall strut overhaul job costs?

It will cost some 600-800 bucks including parts and labor.

Congratulations for 17 years of accident-free driving: I wish I could claim anything like that.

Anyway, we've both got damaged Swifts at the moment: mine cost me a wing and front bumper: yours is going to cost you the bonnet.

I bet you are really, really, really glad that that guy was wearing a helmet!

40km paid service

Hi All,

I just gave my 2007 May Swift LDi for 40km paid service at RNS Yeshwantpur today. Was given a huge quote of 5,000/- just for parts and 900/- for labour! Isn't that really steep?

When I asked the service guy he said the 5k parts will include gear oil, coolant, engine oil etc., and that it is normal for 40k service.

Just wanted to know if I'm getting gipped here. Do you guys think this sum is over the top?

Will post the details of the bill once I get it this evening.

Cheers all,
Jayawant

40k is a major service where all the oils and filters are changed. 5k seems ok, but you may not want to spend on any additives. Their benefits are debatable.

Wanted to know why truck is better and hence was trying a hatch for couple of days on highway.

Truck rules on our roads. Though Swift has a great engine, braking at high speeds is scary.

Well if you dont spend any on 5/10k service, this is ok. 6k is too much for 20k IMHO for a car of this category.

Jayawant, are the brake pads also being replaced in this service? Else, IMO it feels expensive. However, since i am no Swift owner others can confirm.
