How long has it been since it was installed? It'll take a few days for the water between the film and glass to evaporate.

I don't think curing is the problem, its almost 2 months since the installation is done.

Thanks,

I got the front windscreen film for my Palio couple of days back.

After browsing through this thread, I realized the V-kool is the Best, but expensive (Rs.9500-10,000), Llumar didn't have much reviews here, so was not sure.
For a budget film, Garware Icecool Sheild at Rs.2800 seemed to be a good option.

So I decided for Garware Icecool Sheild and went to the dealer (Car Shringar, near Lifestyle) to install the same.
The shop owner (Vikram) and his partner suggested me to go for V-kool or 3M if I wanted good results, he didn't have good opinion about Garware.
When I checked the price of 3M CR-70, it was Rs.5500 + installation charges, which was in the mid-range between Garware ICS and V-kool.
So I decided to spend a bit more and bought the 3M CR-70. Total cost: Rs.5800

Experience: There is significant reduction in heat, A/C is now sparingly used.
In night, visibility is pretty good, headlight glare from opposite vehicles has come down too.

Overall, I am happy with this product!

Good choice. Garware doesnt seem to have got good reviews anywhere. Its just cheap and many fitters push it on if they feel this person wont / cant spend on a good film. But its better to not put it at all and wait and save up. V-kool as you said is the best. The film is effective even 5-6 years after installation and saves energy , gives lot of comfort.

Hi Finneyp

What was the Car Shringar guy quoting for V-Kool?

Planning to put film on my new i10. Called up the 3M distributor in Mumbai and he said that in the Crystalline series 3M has only Cr70 and CR40. Cost wise CR70 and CR40 cost the same. His suggesstion was CR70 for the front and CR40 for the rest. total cost 9K. Also Specialised installers will come home and do the install.

When i asked him about CR50, he said CR 50 was not stocked by 3M in India. In India 3M officially provides only CR70 and CR40 in the Crystalline series. But the point is that CR40 would be illegal but he says the difference between Cr40 and CR50 is not noticeable to the eye.

What do you folks say ?

Ask him if has CS-50 or RE-50?
Better to stick with the legal limit of 50% visibility.

OT: Did you own a Palio before? Noticed your name at PUG.

just curious. How is llumar ?

That is a pure agmark lie. I have put 3M CR 70 and 50 respectively in chennai for my linea

Iam using V-kool for my OHC , very effective , cuts down heat effectively and night driving is much better with the headlight glare cut off.
I spent Rs.9500/- , got it installed from a shop near Koramangala BDA complex . Happy with product and installation.:thumbs up

Hi Finney,

I have a Palio MJD.
I checked your post regarding the 3m Sun film.
You got it done from Car Shringar for 5800 RS (CR70)

I checked with direct distributor Mr Chintu in Bangalore and he is charging me
CR70 for windscreen 6790 Rs
RE / CS for sides and rear 3290 Rs

I am surprised that distributor is asking for more. He is saying that Car shringar people might have not given the bill and 5 year warranty. Please let me know if it is true. i need to get it done for my palio mjd.

Secondly I need your opinion on ICE. I am thinking of going to EVO bangalore. Looking for the contact details of Satya.

Thanks in advance

Fiat_fan, It seems my PM didn't reach you!

Anyway, for the 3M Windscreen sunfilm, CarShringar gave me a Bill & Warranty card valid for 5 yrs.
I suggest you can get it done at CarShringar.

I got my ICE done at AutoShop, Koramangala (Ph: 41104109). They did a good job!

Thanks for the reply. Will go to Car Shringar.

Booked my Linea (D) Dynamic PK. Dealer (Prerana) providing 3M sunfilm on side windows (4) at a subsidized rate of Rs. 2500 (he says original cost of it is Rs. 5500)
These are the options which he is giving: CS5, CS20,CS 35, RE 35, RE 70, FX-ST (CHARCOAL) 20,35,50, FX-HP (CHARCOAL) 50

He said the front and rear windshields would need high quality films (i kinda agree) and would jack up the price. I think the side sunfilms are sufficient, as i do not want to compromise on front/rear visibility and that the rear windscreen comes with a defogger.

Of the options, which one should i go for? My primary requirement is visibility and heat rejection. Are the prices reasonable just for 4 windows? I would rather get the sunfilms done from the dealer rather than outside, as they know the car better.
