Dear Condor,

I am looking for sun films to be installed on the windows in my apt that face the western sun in the afternoon. For this, I have contacted Garware and a Bangalore distributor contacted me. Is this Shreyas fellow from Meda Window Film Corporation by any chance? Meda claims they are a wholesale distributor for Garware sun control films in Bangalore.

If you have any other contacts, that will be helpful also.

Thanks
Pratim

Shreyas is the person I go to for this - have already got 4 vehicles done by him, over the last few years. He is aware of TBHP, and you can contact him.

Re: Front windscreen sunfilm?

Friends - How effective is Garware Ice Cool windscreen film compared to 3M CR70.
I am confused due to VFM price of garware.

If going for the windshield, go for 3M CR70 since that is the best. For sides and rear Ice cool should be good enough. Ice cool works well too. But 3M CR70 has better heat rejection in real life than ice cool

Re: Front windscreen sunfilm?

In case anyone's interested - 3M CR70 for Polo's front windscreen is 8500 including GST. No discounts offered.

Area - Lokhandwala Complex, Andheri West.

I am really not sure if it's worth spending so much money to get a sunfilm installed on the front windscreen. Plus those fogging issues in some cases is another concern. Can't make up my mind and who knows I might just do without it this year as well.

Re: Front windscreen sunfilm?

Thanks. Got the quote from 3M JP Nagar BLR as 8500.
Llumar Platinum Series for 6500
IceCool Sheild for 4500.

I observe that Llumar Platinum has 70% heat rejection and seems like good competent product as well.

Re: Front windscreen sunfilm?

Planning to install Garware Ice Cool sun film in my Honda City door windows this weekend. Any leads in Chennai where we can get it.
Should it be CR70 or CR80, the RTO approved one.

Re: Front windscreen sunfilm?

Email sent to Garware and got hold of a dealer in my area.

He was quoting 4k for Windows and an addl. 4k for windscreen. He was referring to multi options within Garware and suggested to pay a visit to check on the difference.

Starting price for any sun film is 2k and the RTO approved ones are CR70.

Planning to contact other shops in GP road and 3M too for various options to nail down my choice.

Ruling is against the use of any kind of film over the glass. You are being misled by the dealer by calling the film as RTO approved.

No, I am not being misled. Infact I am aware that no sun film should be pasted on the windows but willing to take a risk due to unbearable heat in Chennai.

You may be aware that even using sunshades are illegal since it blocks the inside view.

Then how can you say RTO-approved when such approval would be against the law? If there is any such approval, please let us have the source and reference.

Understandable. So far, I am being held back by two things: one is the thought of seeing my investment torn off by a policeman, and the other is that there are plenty of dings in my windscreen, and a replacement is on my wishlist.

Usually the cops trace the side window films. On Front glass one can easily escape with the lighter films. But yes if we consider the worst case scenario any sort of film is not allowed.

Re: Front windscreen sunfilm?

Finally took the plunge and got VLT 70 from Garware for front plus side curtains as the summer heat was unbearable and I had no covered parking option.
