Re: Most durable wax I have encountered - Collinite 845

^^ For LCD TV and Monitors: Use MIN Cream to get good results.

Outside surface of the window panes of your french window? Those are huge and a pain to clean: Go ahead and use it. On Autogeek many people use it on the windows panes, well there it snows & rains and collinite works very effective in such conditions. But in your case too it should work fine.

Re: Most durable wax I have encountered - Collinite 845

Fellows
In quest of a good long lasting protective and polishing treatment, I went through each and every post of this thread.
I concluded that Collinite 845 is the best for shine + protection (915 is good for shine only and not for protection).
But what I am really confused about is the procedure of doing the treatment.
Can experts please write it in a step manner, I hope that will be helpful for all in doubt.
Thanks!

Collinite 845 is the best polish i have owned and used.

The normal procedure i follow is as follows
a. Park the car in a shade or a covered car parking
b. Clean the car with a shampoo and wipe clean with a microfibre cloth
c. Wet the applicator sponge and shake off excess water
d. Take about 5 ml Collinite 845 on to the wet applicator and apply on a clean dry surface of the car in circular motion (say clockwise).
e. Repeat this until you have covered the entire metallic portions of the car.
e. Allow the wax to dry for about an hour. The wax will dry into a white fine powdery layer.
f. Use a clean dry cotton cloth & wipe away the dry layer by moving the cloth in anti-clockwise direction.
g. Start the cleaning from top of the car and come down as you go on.
h. Clean one panel at a time!!!

This results in a nice silky smooth surface with outstanding shine and water resistance.

Here are the instructions I received with the bottle:
Step 1: Clean your car thoroughly (shampoo-> rinse -> dry)
Step 2: Park in shade
Step 3: Shake wax & apply to clean (slightly damp) cotton cloth
Step 4: Apply a really thin layer of wax in clockwise motion
Step 5: Continue rubbing sections (roof-> hood -> trunk -> sides)
Step 6: Allow wax to dry for 15 minutes to a dull finish (like small white flakes)
Step 7: Remove dry wax by using micro-fiber towel in anti-clockwise motion (highest point of the car to the lowest)
Step 8: Remove stray waxy residue
Step 9: Buff car surface using micro-fiber towel

Re: Most durable wax I have encountered - Collinite 845

Got a reply from Mr. Sanjay regarding comparison between 845 and 915.
He suggests 915 is the best, but costly.
See link
Forum - BB Impex Forum
It is also said that out of 845, 476 and 915 only 476 is detergent proof.
I believe the difference between 845 and 915 is that of carnauba content.
Experts and user please clear this doubt of best wax. I want to order it asap.

What does detergent proof means? If we use 845 and a week later, wash the car with car shampoo, will it remove the effects of 845?

Yesterday got delivery of my order from Mr.Sanjay, Collinite 845 + MF + star shaped areon perfume as gift. Total cost 995/-

Re: Most durable wax I have encountered - Collinite 845

I got the paint protection done at 3M and they used a 3M synthetic wax that apparently will stay longer than any other wax, even in the scorching Chennai Sun. is Collinite better than 3M Synthetic Wax? BTW, it is available on Auto-mall.in and Carpolish.in as well.

Detergent proof implies that if you wash your car with a mild detergent (Car shampoo) then upto 3-4 washes it will stay.

Do post the pictures of results you get.

Thanks Honda Monk, well in that case, will the result of collinite 845 won't last even 1 or 2 car washes, since it is not detergent proof?

Well that stands true (as it is said by the supplier himself).

Thats seems unlikely.
915 and 476 are much more long lasting.
In my experience a well applied coat of Collinite-845 stays on till 2.5 to 3 months in a shadow parked environment. Roughly, I can say it should atleast last 1-1.5 months even in worst case.

The longetivity depends on many factors like
1) Is your car parked in sunlight
2) How often is it washed
3) What kind of soapish medium/shampoo used for wash.
4) How the surface is washed with MF/wash mitt or ragged cloth.

Well as I said only 476 is detergent proof whereas both 845 and 915 are not.
Theoretically 915 is better than 845 in terms of duration that's almost 2 months extra and that is because of it's higher carnauba content.
845 contains petroleum particulates that helps in its easy application.
For point 1 - Car parked in sunlight, that hardly matters in this case.
For point 2 - As mentioned 845 and 915 will go away with detergent wash but I this one can give a mild auto shampoo wash once in 2-3 months life of wax.

Re: Most durable wax I have encountered - Collinite 845

I generally do not shampoo my car. It washes perfectly fine without a shampoo. It appears that Honda probably shampoo it as part of the service.

One point which indicates that 845 does not go away. After a recent body repair, when waxing I found that the application on the painted area was much tougher than on the rest. In other words I had to put in more effort. Also, after the first application again the effor dropped when I redid it after a couple of months.

Even when it stops 'beading' some residual coating seems to be there.

EXACTLY!!! I was also wondering the same. The waxing is much much easier after a coat of collinite! Though the water has stopped beading,i feel the shine would still be present .A simple wash is enough to bring out that shine.

Lets call it "The Collinite Effect"
