Re: Most durable wax I have encountered - Collinite 845

This is a great product and no doubt the best you can get. Their product range is amazing and I don't use anything other than Collinite for all my vehicles.

Just a word of caution to fellow TeamBHPians and people trying out Collinite 845.

Not product related issue but the method of applications (and my stupidity).

I got a new bottle opened up last weekend, so thought of weekend workout since I have missed my gym for several months. Got the car washed and prepped and then instead of applying the wax on a wet sponge and spreading it on car body, I just used a spray gun and sprayed it. Got carried away with my thoughts so much that little did I know that I used almost half the bottle. It's not the quantity that I am worried about, but the work that came after that.

My car was drenched in 845 and I had to do something before it dries. Started the wipe on and wipe off strategy with two soft cotton cloths in both hands. Took me 2 hours to complete end to end. My hands were just done for the day and back was killing me.

So, as a matter of advice from a person who learned this the hard way, please do not use spray method for 845. Take a wet soft sponge and use that as an applicator. The best part is that you can then squeeze the excess out on the body at every stage and reduce wastage by reusing it.

Good luck.

Re: Most durable wax I have encountered - Collinite 845

Here's how I do it :

I decant about 30-40ml into an oil dropper can from the main bottle. Dip main bottle in luke warm water for about 5 minutes and shake it for a minute till the contents get a water like consistency. Then decant into oil dropper.

Just before using, I again dip it in 5 minutes in lukewarm water. Shake it well for a minute.

Put exactly 4-5 tiny dots on the applicator pad. Nowadays I use a machine to apply wax but the process is the same.

Just these 4-5 dots are enough to prime the pad and apply wax on the bonnet. After that, put 1 or 2 drops per panel (1 or 2 dots depending on size of the panel). WHen applied , it should be only visible from extreme angles. If the panel appears white, you've applied too much.

This is ideally how the panel should look with the wax on.

Use a high GSM thick towel to buff off when cured. A thick towel ensures the pressure from your hand is distributed evenly onto the panel via the towel and it can hold lot more spent wax.

The thinner wax you apply, lesser is the wastage and its exponentially easier to buff it off.

Exactly. This is the best way to apply 845. The only substitute for people with no orb machine is to use soft wet sponge.

I am still feeling the effect of yesterday's misadventure.

Re: Most durable wax I have encountered - Collinite 845

Collinite 845 has to be the longest lasting wax undoubtedly. My M800 was supposed to be hibernated, hence I had applied a nice coat of C-845 on it. The hibernation however never happened really as my dad continued using it. So here it is, after 2 months of usage, still protecting nicely.

Re: Most durable wax I have encountered - Collinite 845

Hi all, it seems the prices of Collinite have increased quite a bit more. Sanjay from bringinbest quoted me 2195 for c476s and 2159 for c845. Greenzcarcare is quoting even higher! Is there any other durable and quality wax (non cleaner)/ sealant recommended? Maruti service guys ruined my new Alto k10's paint finish with their waterless wash, no scratches or swirls and still glossy but the feel is not slick anymore

Just revisited this thread. Good to read people have had positive results with the 845. I still think its the most easy to apply durable wax out there. There may be more durable wax but its not as easy to apply as 845.

Nothing to beat Collinte 845/476s for durability. If you really like the look of Carnauba wax, try the following after washing your car with a good quality car shampoo:

A coat of synthetic wax AKA sealant, either one the following:

a) Meg's NXT 2.0 or even better
b) Mothers California Gold synthetic wax
c) Meg's Ultimate Wax (expensive in India)

Followed by a coat (or 2), either one the following:

a) Meg's Professional Hi Tech Yellow Wax #26
b) Meg's Gold Class Carnauba.
c) Mothers California Gold carnauba wax like the one you see here:

https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/techn...ml#post4264916 (A superb Car cleaning, polishing & detailing guide)

This one is difficult to get. Don't mistake it for Mothers California Gold Carnauba 'cleaner' wax. The latter has fine polishing compounds.

Re: Most durable wax I have encountered - Collinite 845

So I tried Collinite on a whole car for the first time.

Waxed it using a DA, put ultra thin layers that was a breeze to wipe off even at extremely humid weather.

Most durable wax I have encountered - Collinite 845-2.jpeg

It rained soon (and how!) and the beads were enticing

Even applied it to the rubber beadings via machine and they didn't get stained

Most durable wax I have encountered - Collinite 845-4.jpeg

Finally how it looked in the morning

Most durable wax I have encountered - Collinite 845-5.jpeg

It gave a very gossy look, not the warm look I like and love of waxes. Its definitely the way for someone who wants gloss but M26 and Mothers carnauba are still the king for a deep wet rich look.
