Re: Yamaha Aerox 155 Scooter. Edit: Launched at 1.29 lakhs

I have booked Vermillion Grey on 8th October and still waiting for delivery. Now thinking of to change the color to Metallic Black. This might again delay the delivery!

Checked with Yamaha showroom in Lower Parel. The owner said they haven't even received a test bike yet. Expects in Jan.

I understand Yamaha may not be looking at aggressive numbers given the price and the category its starting, but not having a test bike in a Metro like Mumbai sucks.

Has anyone tried KYB suspension yet??? I’m planning to go for it. Stock suspension is hard and stiff.

Re: Yamaha Aerox 155 Scooter. Edit: Launched at 1.29 lakhs

A few days into my scooter and I find that the stock suspension is unliveable considering the quality of our roads. I’m happy options exist to at least moderate the impact

Congratulations on getting the Vermillion Grey - do share some pics of how the scooter appears in real life. Wishing you many happy miles on this. I wanted this color and the dealer said it might be available only by middle of January and that too no commitment. I switched to the Racing Blue that was available and got delivery on 7 Dec. Happy with the Aerox so far and have ridden approximately 340 km .

The ride quality surely is stiff, especially at lower speeds and on the potholed and speedbreaker laden roads of Bangalore; however, you can't feel it at higher speeds and that actually aids the stability and handling. It feels stable at high speeds and inspires you to overtake and go around corners or change lanes at will. Haven't ridden it hard as it is in the running in period, so maintaining speeds below 60 km/h with rev range of 4k to 5.5k and varying the speeds. With this riding style of not opening the throttle aggressively, getting economy of 45-50 kmpl I anyways don't plan to take it above 85-90 even after the running in period and first service is done. For a CVT, gentle acceleration is the right way of opening the throttle and that should deliver healthy fuel economy figures even on the highways.

Just trying to figure out anchoring points - luggage strap loops or metal ones - to attach to the chassis underneath the body panels. They are required to carry tail bags such as ViaTerra Hammerhead or Claw. Once that is done, a Bangalore-Bombay journey is on the cards for the Racing Blue Aerox - omicron willing.

Congrats Paarag , For now I badly need a Hook in the Front to carry small items like Milk and Vegetables (Not weighing more than 1.5 Kilos)

Any Jugaad Ideas are welcome

For carrying milk and vegetables, no need of jugaad although it does involve the inconvenience of lifting the seat up every time. Option 1 is the huge storage space below the seat. Option 2 is to hang polythene bags using the prongs (spike like things) on either side near the lifting hinge. I don't have a picture currently, but you should be able to spot it easily. You can hang bags on either side - these are normally provided to hang the helmet by its strap and I guess these are provided on all scooters, so they can easily carry 1.5 kgs each. I saw a similar provision on my previous TVS Jupiter as well.

One more option, albeit a slightly pricey affair: I have ordered this from Amazon. The ViaTerra Seaty 2.

https://www.amazon.in/gp/product/B06...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

This one can carry small items on the pillion seat when extended, and when collapsed serves as a pillion seat cushion with about 10 mm foam padding when collapsed. Tried to source it from authorized re-sellers in HSR Layout, but is currently out of stock there - the pandemic situation has disrupted supplies, so had to order from Amazon.

Good idea. But if the piece of plastic is broken, we are in trouble. It would be very difficult to get any spares from Yamaha at present.

I don't understand this step-through - maxi scooter hybrid love union concept.

If you do not have a flat board to carry stuff in front, then what use is a scooter and why then not a motorcycle directly.

Its a serious question.

Cheers, Doc

It’s a powerful automatic scooter with large wheels which handles like a motorcycle but without the bother of changing gears - primary reason for most people. Many will be in love with the overall looks and the fat rear tyre too. I leave it to the owners to comment further

I was quite enchanted with it, lost interest along the way

Cheers
