Re: Mahindra XUV500 : Test Drive & Review

I'm back from the trip. Haridwar, Rishikesh, Devprayag, Rudraprayag, Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri (parents headed Yamunotri while wife and I did 14+kms Gaumukh trek), Gurgaon, Agra, Bharatpur, Ajmer, Ahmedabad and back to Bangalore.

I shall try and share a brief report and pictures later. 7K kms well spent. My car behaved really well and it was fun riding himalayas (though lots of people advised me and family not to selfdrive in extreme UK regions). Its truely a 'devbhoomi'!

Ketan, good to hear that the extra-long trip was successful and the XUV behaved really well.

I am headed out for a ~3000kms trip myself in 2 weeks. Such positive reports do help to boost the confidence. Thanks again.

Please create a travelogue and share a lot of pictures.

Re: Mahindra XUV500 : Test Drive & Review

Sure SDP, I shall create share the experience, it may become long story if I can recollect a lot of things, but I will try to keep it short and informative, however, will be able to put it up only after coming weekend, need to work on a couple tests that I'm writting this weekend. Keep some spares like break/clutch fluid (costs Rs 125.00) a spare tube (in case if you have a sidewall puncture), a puncture kit and know how to fix it, a tow rope (makes more sense if you are riding tough terrains), air pressure guage and pump, mineral water should come to help for as coolant to take you to the nearest service center, contact numbers of ASCs on the way etc, I may be missing some of the things, will share more on that, these things are worth carrying along, I was lucky didnt need any of them except the tube (which I wasnt carrying but managed to get from outside). I shall share more details later. All the luck with your trip planning and trip ahead, its a great machine and you can ride all day and beyond without any fatigue or tiredness. Have fun!

Re: Mahindra XUV500 : Test Drive & Review

EN"LIGHT"ENED YESTERDAY!

I realized this fact only yesterday, because all these days I've been driving on Auto Headlamp mode.

In this mode, when you pull the stalk for flashing headlights, both dippers and parallel beams illuminate. But as I realized yesterday, when i switch on the headlights in manual mode, and pull the stalk to flash- ONLY the parallel beam works. The dippers switch off.

Has anyone noticed this? Is this an anomaly in my car or is it by design?

Same in all XUVs. Seems like by design. Weird design though.

Re: Mahindra XUV500 : Test Drive & Review

Hi,
Anyone expecting delivery of XUV this month. The Sales guy is telling me there is a delay getting the vehicle because the colour that I opted for (Dolphin Grey) is not a common choice and they are not coming. I was wondering if anyone else was having a similar issue or the sales guy was taking me for a ride

Hullo all. Newbie as the left panel says. Felt the need to sign up on Team BHP since I felt the need to go in for an SUV. Booked an XUV 500 after considering Storme. Been reading the threads and grateful to all BHPians for the encyclopedic information they provide.

I am expecting my XUV (W8 RED) on 13th (Diwali). Booked last week.
Actually I was looking for AWD but the only color option available was Dolphin Grey.

Hi,
I am expecting delivery of my Silver W8 (in TRV) somewhere around the 20th of this month. At the time of booking in Sep, they had given Dec dates - so can't complain! To be honest, the Sales guys here had forewarned that any color other than White, Silver and Black would take relatively more time (although that was not the reason, I went in for Silver!). Keep chasing the guys at the dealership and am sure, they will be able to improve the dates...

Re: Mahindra XUV500 : Test Drive & Review

Couple of updates for you guys:

1. The OBDII port on the XUV works flawlessly. Am using an OBD Transmitter I bought online paired with Torque on an Android phone. Flawless! Useful stats!

2. If you're facing a khat-khat sound coming from your suspension, I would suggest checking that the engine cover is fastened properly. I just a 3000KM Roadtrip and found this while inspecting the car. Once fastened, the sound disappears.

3. Doubt that the XUV can drift? Turn ESP off (not recommended) and try revving hard!

Hi,

I am taking delivery of Silver XUV W6 this diwali. Did the PDI today. Initially I had opted for black. However the sales rep told that they have only one back in stock and if I dont book immediately - I may not get the color preference - as Black was an Odd color. However by next day when I went to make full payment - I was told black color was gone. In the next lot which is expected in two days (that was yesterday) silver w6 is available. I went for it as I wanted delivery on Diwali day.

What I realized that color options are more easy to get in W8 than W6 as the lot which the delaer gets is 90% W8! (Surprise! Surprise!)

Secondly, other than white - the sales reps call all other colors as odd colors. I realized this when I hear the sales rep saying the same to someone who was there to book a red XUV.

XUVs are selling like hot cakes be ready to wait to get your color preference - espcially in W6

From where did you get the OBD transmitter? Could you please post the link for the same?
