My car too had poor wiper blades since say one, leaving water streaks. Many fellow BHPians have already done away with stock wipers. 3M has desirable replacements for this, Dr.Naren have got these installed in his car.

You have 2 Options :

1. Bosch - Clear Advantage 26/13 (stock size of Scross 26/14)

2. 3M - Frameless or with frames 24/16 : Refer to these posts from fellow Bhpian Sudeepg & Myself

Can you get it completely checked at MASS. I can also think that this could be rat menace. Any droppings around noticed or wire chewing?

Can you bend down and check for the condition of the wiring behind the dashboard and glove box area since the one of the fuse box is located in the passenger compartment just beside the glove box.
I tried looking today at this location but I was not able to see anything. Or maybe I'm not looking at the correct place. Can you show me a pic of which area you are talking about? I'm quite naive in these matters.

A few other things I have to report which might be related to this potential issue of the wiring harness:-
1. Since the last 2 weeks, I am hearing a weird sound which seems to be emanating from the dashboard. It is like a crackling sound, similar to what you get maybe when you switch between FM radio stations on those old school radios. I do not know if this is caused due to some loose contact or not. I notice this particularly when I just move out of office/home (say next 1-2 kms) after which it is not prominent (by that time I'm on the main highway at good speed).

2. The second issue is related to the horn of the car. I'm having this issue since I think almost 6-7 months and it was first discovered during 3rd free servicing of the car. The car horn sometimes sounds like those 'simple' horn like that of the old cars (Maruti 800); it lacks the punch. The service advisor told me that will be fixed by doing a 'tuning' of the horn. Once the tuning was done, the issue disappeared. But a week later, it re-occurred. And it has been there even since! But it is not throughout the journey. It happens in between and after a while it regains its original sound. All this while I tried to live with it thinking its a tuning issue, but now after hearing the issues with the wiring harness and especially after seeing the video of the issue faced by sinharishi, WHO KNOWS!!!

I will be paying another visit to the service centre and if nothing improves, I will escalate the matter to Maruti Suzuki. The service centre guys have been very nice to me (I know some people there), but if they cant get the job done, I will have to get things moving!

Btw, I recorded a video which shows the brake lights issue. If I manage to upload it somewhere, I will edit this post and post it here for everyone to see.

You just have to send an email to Nexa. They will make sure that TSM and dealer works manager look into it

Re: Maruti S-Cross : Official Review

Nexa showrooms at cochin are accepting bookings for the 1.6 s cross
They communicated that the bookings were on hold for a couple of months, but now they are ready to take bookings.

Time for one more test drive:
Took the TD of the 2017 s cross 1.6
The engine was in a much better state of tune than the one which I drove in 2015. There is evident turbo lag, but pick up is quite good at lower revs. Not as good as my remapped 1.3. But once that needle crossess 1750 rpm it is altogether a different story. No drama, Much better NVH (compared to 1.3) and locomotive pull. I enjoyed the brief TD.
PS: The clutch was not that heavy as I had anticipated

I dont think Maruti has plans on stopping the 1.6 engine. Thats what I understood from my RMs talk. They also suspect a facelift some time this year end. Time for true value to evaluate my hippo I presume.

TheGoodest,

I had similar issues in my older Ritz. It turns out to be a weak battery. I changed to a new battery and the issues no longer surfaced. All your symptoms point in that direction. I would request for a battery change or use a donor battery for sometime (say 2 weeks?) and then take a decision.

Oh is it the battery? Damn! The car is hardly 1 year 5 months old now! How many years is the battery warranty?

Could be the battery!

Maruti's OE batteries are quite bad (read:cheap). My SX4's OE battery gave up in 2 years, the replacement battery (Exide) is still going strong after four years - touch wood!

The 1.3 comes with Exide and the 1.6 comes with Panasonic (which i heard is the best for OEMs). My previous car, a 2010 Swift Diesel came with Exide that went kaput in a year. Replaced it with Amaron. With a 100/90 main HL, a pair of Hella aux lights and Roots Vibrosonic horns and lot of night drives, the battery held for 6 years more without any issues till the new owner (a bhpian himself) replaced the battery last month after observing slower cranking speed.

For starters, get the battery checked from a good battery shop and get the terminals cleaned.
Symptoms of a dying battery-
1-Slower cranking
2-Heavier steering
3-Lights dimming
4-Horn sounding meek sometimes

I have symptoms 2 and 4 for sure. Does anybody have an idea what is the warranty period for OEM batteries?

Which battery is it? Exide? My S-Cross came with EXIDE FEF1-T25(MF), which had 1 Year warranty.

I recently got it replaced with Exide Mileage Red FMI0-MREDDIN50 which comes with 24 months free replacement warranty + 24 months Pro Rata replacement warranty.

Why are you guys having the need to get the batteries that soon? Mine seems perfectly fine after 23 months! I do have bad habits like sitting in the car with music on while the engine isn't.

Even I was shocked when my old battery died. Motorcraft took the battery to Exide and they tested the battery for 24 hours. Exide replaced the old battery with a new one without sharing the test report with me or Motorcraft

That's a very nifty accessory. The centre arm rest console and its flexibility is one the reason why I like S Cross most from Maruti's lineup.
