Yes the XZ+ has dual barrel headlamps where the projectors are low beam and halogen bulbs for the high beam(just like tigor). The XZ gets the normal halogen headlamps for both low beam as well as high beam without the split layout. Apart from the touchscreen you also get 15inch alloys in the XZ+ and a dual tone roof option alongwith some other features like automatic climate control. Hope this helps!

This will be good since I had to use fog lamps + high beams with my older Maruti Estilo during night drive. Both low and high beams were pathetic in Estilo and had to install fog lamps to get more light with above combination.

Yes this would be due to the single H4 (probably) bulb setup in Estilo. Two filaments separated with a small plate in the same bulb. A compromise solution for which most people would change the bulb from the 35/55 to 85/95 or 95/100 bulbs and still complain that the light is brighter but not great. This was a reflector design problem.

Anyways, do check for the double barrel setup. Honestly projectors with normal halogens is not a great setup - looks the part does just 75% of the job. HID or good LED bulbs is a lot better with projectors.

Importantly don’t upgrade the bulbs and stuff immediately. Drive the car at least for some time 12000 kms at least before deciding if you really need the upgrades. As they say YMMV ( Your mileage May vary). What suits my style of driving might be too much for you. The standard setup is generally enough for 99% of drivers. Most people upgrade just because peers have upgraded without thinking if that is going to help.

Re: Tata Tiago : Official Review

Recently I bought Tiago xe diesel model on January 2019 and covered nearly 1900km. Since the day I bought the car I am getting a peculiar belling sound from the engine. The vehicle was left for diagnosis and was there in the workshop for 5 days. But none of the technicians were able to find the problem, finally told me to come back after covering 2500km to check again. According to them the sound will subside. So this is the quality of Tata engine. Fit and finish is not good. Too much of rattling and squeaking sound. But seating comfort is good and gives a decent mileage of 18 kmpl in city and 24 kmpl in highway. My conclusion as per my current experience, I will never go for Tata brand again. FYI THIS IS MY 9TH CAR AND IS A DIESEL ENGINE.

Can you make a video with the engine running so that the sound is captured. It may help you if some one here have come across such an issue in their car earlier or someone who have heard/understood about such an issue and the fix that is required.

Dashboard rattling is definitely an issue with Tiago. My XZ Diesel 32153 KMS in 32 Months of ownership, is also having same problem. During 4th and 5th servicing, I did ask them to rectify this issue, but they seem reluctant and not confident about final result of rectification. I have seen some Tiago owners regretting the rectification work (spoiled dashboard panels due to praying tool injuries). Company should try to rectify this issue actively, it sticks out like a sore thumb in otherwise nicely built car.

Tata Motors has launched a new funky ad campaign called "Apni Hatchback" on the lines of "Apna Time Ayega" song from movie Guly Boys

I purchased spare alloy from TATA for 7,000 Rupees and got a new 175/65R14 MRF ZVTV A1 tyre (Same as other 4) for 3,800 Rupees. The 155/80R13 spare tyre given in exchange fetched me 2,000 Rupees. The 14 inch alloy + tyre will fit perfectly in the boot. Only con is that you cannot use the wheel retainer bolt/screw whatever that is screwed to hold the spare wheel into place in the boot. The loop type bolt/screw will scratch the alloy surface.

It is not possible to record that sound as you will not be able differentiate between engine sound and that belling sound. It usually starts when torque increase. Commonly happens in 4th and 5th gear. Even my friend who bought Nexon this month has the same problem. But these service guys are not willing to accept the problem.

Tata Tiago: 2 lakh sales up!

Tata Motors has claimed that it has sold 2 lakh units of the Tiago hatchback. Team-BHP’s monthly sales analysis (January 2019 : Indian Car Sales Figures & Analysis) shows that the car has consistently been the best-selling car from Tata Motors, frequently crossing the 8,000 sales mark.

Tata Tiago : Official Review-tiago.jpg

The Tiago was launched in April 2016, and was the first product to feature the company’s IMPACT Design philosophy. It was designed with inputs from the Pune, UK and Italy design studios. The interior of the car features more than 20 utility spaces.

The Tiago is available in petrol and diesel variants. The car’s petrol engine is a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder Revotron unit that puts out 84 BHP and 114 Nm of torque. The diesel engine is a 1.05-litre, 3-cylinder Revotorq unit that develops 69 BHP and 140 Nm of torque. Both engines get multi-drive modes - City and Eco. At launch, the car came with a 5-speed manual gearbox. In March 2017, an automated manual transmission (AMT) was introduced on the petrol version.

The year 2018 saw the introduction the Tiago NRG - a cross-hatch version and the Tiago JTP - a performance version of the car built by JT Special Vehicles (JTSV) - a 50:50 Joint Venture between Tata Motors and Jayem Automotives.

The Tiago JTP is powered by a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that produces 112 BHP and 150 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to 5-speed manual transmission.

Re: Tata Tiago : Official Review

I've purchased Tiago XZ (P) around 2.5 months back (covered approx. 2400kms+ so far). But, since I was not a member of TBHP then, I couldn't share my purchase experience then.

I don't want to start with my requirements and all that stuff, and how I finalized Tiago. Because, that belongs to "What Car?" thread, and also, it makes this post lengthier (doesn't mean it'll be shorter now ). So, I'll just start with booking of my Tiago.

On Nov'18 last week, I've finalized and booked Tiago (P). I didn't mention the model here, because, at that time, I was still in a dilemma about XT or XZ.
I actually wanted the safety features, so, XT (O) would be the right choice for my budget. But, the SA said that 'O' variants will not be available readily, and will be manufactured on request, and hence, takes time. Not sure how much of this is TRUE. Anyway, now, only left with XT or XZ. For few days, I favored XT, but, later changed my decision, and booked XZ.

As everyone, handling charges (6.5k) were part of the price list. I tried negotiating with them, that they are not legal, and lot of them got those charges waived off. They too accepted that they can be waived off, but, only after getting such mail from TML higher management. By waive off, they said that they'll get the equivalent amount from TATA, and thus, they pass on the benefit to the customer. Not sure how much of it is TRUE though. And, such process will take some time too, and till then, no buying process (even loan) can be initiated from their end. They can instead compensate the handling charges by giving equivalent extra discounts. I was at fault here. If I had decided the car model/color earlier, may be, I would've had enough time to mail TATA management and get the handling charges waived off. Not sure if I could've got that extra discounts with hard bargain, even if handling charges were waived off. Anyways, it's past now, and no use of thinking about it.

I wanted the delivery on Dec 1st (our marriage anniversary). So, by the time we decided on the model/color, we'd only 2-3 days left.
Went to the stock yard, checked the car that we need, paid the advance amount, and got the loan (TMF) formalities done on the same day. Went ahead with Orange Aug'18 manufactured over Brown Sep'18 manufactured, because we already have a Grand i10 in the family, colored similar to the Brown one.

D'day was supposed to be Dec 1st, for the reason I've mentioned above. But, unfortunately, we'd some other plans on the same day, and on top of it, SA was also on leave on that day. So, finally got the car delivered on Dec 3rd. Since it was an auspicious day, lot of them had their vehicles delivered on the same day. Ours is supposed to be delivered by 5pm, but, ended up delivered at 8pm.

Finally, ending my post with the pics of my Orange beauty.

Re: Tata Tiago : Official Review

I have purchased a Tiago XT (Manual) on 5th October 2018, since then the car has clocked 2700km . The car is involving to drive and comfortable. The only worry I have is that the car gives 8-10 kmpl in Mumbai city driving. While taking delivery of the car , I confirmed with the dealership about the mileage part , they confirmed with me that the car will give 10 kmpl in the city . Will be uploading a ownership review in the coming months . Attaching a few pictures of the car .

Re: Tata Tiago : Official Review

I am planning to book Tiago NRG by end of March with Canyon Orange colour. Initial thought was to go for Nexon XM but for a couple of things I have dropped that idea. First was the budget (almost 2 lakhs more for Nexon) and secondly the risk involved in buying a big Tata car. The issue I have is the servicing quality. Tata cars are great. What if I do not get proper service, so this buy is like taking a chance with Tata for the first time. Overall reviews for Tiago are really good with plenty of hick ups regarding TATA servicing. I have driven Marutis and Hyundais all these years and one Honda Civic.

Any last minute opinions/ideas for me are highly appreciated.

If the Tata brand is a concern for you, I personally don't see any benefit in buying the NRG as well. Ok, I get the idea that you will spend lesser on a car and thus would at a lesser risk if something goes haywire, but if you are averse to Tata brand, I'd suggest you to avoid the brand altogether.

Freestyle Trend would be my last minute opinion for you. Not only will it solve the whole 'Tata' problem, it is a better product overall and is a segment or atleast half a segment above the NRG and sits right between the Nexon and the NRG in terms of size. You would only need to spend an additional 50k for the Freestyle vs 2L for the Nexon.
